I had a profoundly annoying noise coming from my interior fan. It was so dramatic I could not hear the radio much less carry on conversation. As it turns out it was the fan motor (I believe for fresh air circulation that is easily removed near the fire wall under the hood.
It is a basic electric motor with a squirrel cage on each end. My motor appears to be totally without bushings and repair may be unreasonable to achieve although I will pursue it.
My question is: How to the squirrel cage pieces come off the motor?
I don't know if they are pressed on, held on by little screws or bolts. I just need a little help here folks.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but the blower cages are supposedly just pressed onto the motor shafts. Be very patient and careful removing/installing them as the plastic may be brittle after 20 years or so.
Good luck,

I'm not sure if heat will help but it probably won't hurt. Be aware that the fans were balanced on the shafts to minimize vibration. It is highly recommended to index the position fan on the shaft before removal regardless of how the removal process is achieved.
Apparently most folks just spring for a new motor/fan assembly. I'm a cheap bast@rd and would probably try to fix the one on the car first. I shot some spray silicone on the shaft ends on my squeaker and its been quiet for the past eight or nine months. Others seem to think the silicone spray was a bad idea but didn't elaborate why.

When I pulled this out it was clear NO amount of silicone was going to help. I can find a replacement motor at autohausaz.com, but the one w/o the squirrel cages is much more reasonably priced than those that are complete.
But since it still works and only needs busings to quiet downI need to give it a shot.
