so im thinking i have some kind of vacuum leak near my icv. heres why:

i hear hissing, my milage is like 17mpg, because i can most definately smell that it is running rich. so that basically leads to a general vacuum leak.

i think it has something to do with the icv, is because as i'm accelerating and shifting i can hear it start when i let off the gas to shift. sounds like: "vrooooo-pssssshhhhh vrooooo-psshhhh" making the psssshhh when i let off the gas and push in the clutch.

another thing to keep in mind, i blew up my intake manifold a while back in a nitrous incident, and i think this has been going on since then. so possible damage to a part??? I also cleaned the icv right after the nitrous incident, so maybe i didnt put it in right??? i really suck at finding vacuum leaks. HELP!!!!

let me know what you guys think it could be. i dont want to be running rich anymore. gas is too expensive and i dont want to damage my engine anymore.

I'd say get back in there and check your ICV if you're not sure about it... check the vicinity for disconnected hoses/wires/etc while you're at it.

Then re-test for that sound, and we'll go from there.

Happy hunting! ;)

EDIT: BTW: this is my friends acccount upon posting, i realized it was signed in to his account.

so yeah, everything is connected. i got a friend to help with a little test. it seems like my icv is staying open. correct me if im wrong, but heres how i think the system works:

when the car is idling, the icv is open. when the car revs, the icv should be closed.

heres what happened with the test:

i disconnected the hose from the 90 degree intake boot before the throttle body. the hose that goes to the icv. we left it open, and started the car. it seemed fine. we plugged it, and it died, as it should. next, we tried revving it. with the icv unplugged, the car had trouble revving and died(because there is essentially a huge vacuum leak). when we plugged it and revved it at the same time, it revved fine, but there was still suction coming from the hose (he used his thumb to plug it) it seems like the icv is not closing. as we revved it more, the suction power decreased, but was still there.

this is all strange, because when im driving it, it dosent have problems revving. (the hose is unplugged while driving) the only difference is that the hose is in the boot while driving. what can the problem be???
