Hey, we've got one of these on my wife's 94 vert. No x-brace. I just want to double check, this thing is held on by six or so bolts. I'm pretty sure four of them attach into the body with nutserts. Can anyone confirm that? I need to reattach this thing as when we had tranny work done on the car they pulled it off and didn't put it back on right.

It's not the x-brace I'm talking about, in case I didn't make that clear. It's the older brace.

never heard of a "belly plate brace"

It comes on the older cars. No x-brace on them, just this thing that looks like a big plate. I'm just trying to make sure that it's nutserts that hold the thing on. Unfortunately, most people have never seen one of these things unless they have worked on an older vert.

No problem. I'm pretty sure this thing attaches with nutserts in four of the holes which is why when I had the tranny rebuilt on the car and they took this thing off they ended up stripping out the nuts and were not able to get them back in. Right now there are three bolts out of six actually holding in the thing. One of the holes is all stripped out and the bolt doesn't tighten properly. The other two bolts go into the frame or one of the cross members I think and are solid. The problem though is that without the other bolts the thing really isn't bracing anything anymore and tends to move around and clank on the body during a hard turn.

I should take some pictures of this thing so people know what I'm talking about.

If a shop damaged them, then they need to fix the problem.

I'd go back there, but it has been over six months and I don't trust them to be able to fix the problem. The one guy knew how to fix a transmission, but the rest of the crew were just a bunch of idiots who were only there to get the tranny out of the car. I'd send them the bill for it, but as I said it's been a bit too long for me to go back and complain that they caused it.

I already billed them for other shit they did wrong when they put the car back together that I had a guy fix for me. They put the exhaust back on wrong. But that was like right after I got the car back.
