This morning my little brothers 318ti threw a code of an intake camshaft position sensor. Where is this located? Is it hard to change? I just havent heard of this part failing...thanks

It's usually inder the intake.

These are the correct part number for the o-ring & sensor.

thanks...is this a usual failure? Never had this problem with any other BMW ever owned...first time for everything....is it hard to replace?

camshaft position sensor failure is pretty common on all BMW's. it's even more common on the E46, E39 & E38.

yeah thats true its more common on the e46's
ok now for your question the intake cam position sensor is located right above/behind your oil filter attached to your head its gonna be the only black sensor with a 5m hex screw.

Is there diffrent sensors to replace if its intake or exhaust?
Where is the exhaust sensor?

E36s do not have a exhaust camshaft sensor

The cam sensor is at front of the head on the 4 cyls.

Im sorry for bringing such old thread up but i cant start thread yet :)
Anyway i think i need to change my camshaft sensor and i found this guide.
Is this correct for 6cyl 328?
