ok so you get this paint and do it up nice, i got that, now the question i have for you, i live in PA, so DOT reg says my rear signals must blink either red or yellow. does yellow light come from this mod? also: if i love this (which i do) and wanna copy it, will it matter if i have the oem amber/white tops or do i need the all clear tops to do it?

mine are the oem ambers..whole mod cost me 12 bucks
i was worried about not being able to see the blinker light too, cuz i didnt wanna see the plastic when it wasnt blinking, but it shines through perfectly fine, not as reflective, but still perfectly bright....you can also use model spray tint also, but you wont see the light as well, and it will look a bit dull

i think it would...you could either go the polished route, which would be clears, polished rims ect. or go the blacked out kinda look like i am kinda doin....which would be black lights/rims ect. personaly i like the silver/black theme, and if you had black interior also:buttrock it would be awesome...thats what i would do with a silver car though, some people dont like that look

Hate to rain on this love fest, but ...can people see your blinkers? The rice-cars around here who have smoked tails usually have their bumpers held on with tape becaust they've been rearended...

This mod looks very nice indeed. I recently bought clear tail lights. I think I will try it on my stock tail light to see if I like it.
How are your front corners to fit with the smoke tails ?

Could you post a brief description of how you did it and all? Just a general view is cool. Also what was the name of the store you got the equipment from? Would somneone like Kragen have the stuff?

i havent heard of kragen, i got it from a place called autodreams...i think its just one location.the stuff is kinda hard to find..but dont settle for anything less.
here is a simple write up for you
people say you need to sand the tails down to kinda prime it up...i didnt and it turned out more glossy. its up to you.
first, take your tail lights out of the car...its just a plastic cover and 5 screws.
next use painters tape, and tape off the entire tail, except for the amber and clear.
put it face up, and give it a pretty light coat of nightshade
let it dry for an hour or so
give it another coat, a bit thicker this time, let dry
if its still not dark enough, give it another coat..let dry
let them chill overnight
next day get a can of clear coat..any autozone would have it, give it a thicker coat, let dry
one more semi thick coat, let dry for a couple hours
take the tape off, put back in the car, and enjoy....(the clear coat protects the paint, makes it last longer, and gives it a nice glossy oem paint look.)

Wow I feel like an Idiot :(, I bought all my painting materials at OSH, lol. Well, you live and you learn. I put the clear laquor on my turn signals that I painted (that I have to re-do with nightshade, I just used spray paint like a nub) and it looks good, it has the paint shine, but I would rather use something auto-motive related.

thanks for the quick write up skate. I might be doing this sometime.
would this black turn signal mod look good with clear corners on a red 318?

I did mine with tamaya RC car paint. I did the reverse light part lighter than the turnsignals, so that my backup lights would be bright. I have a long driveway and and night it's useful. The reverse lights look like the lense isn't tinted.
FYI the paint I used on my tails chipped and flaked off of my sidemarkers. I roughed them up with 600 grit sandpaper and sprayed them with gloss black paint. It's holding very well and you can still see the light. The only time this would be illegal is when you're spraying over your reflectors. Other than that It's kosher because they light up amber still.

I think I have some of that RC model paint too. Are you happy with how yours came out? I'm thinking of using it now since I have it handy.
