I have a potential buyer flying in from Washington DC to buy the car this weekend. Still working out the bugs in the deal, and by no means is it sold until I have cash in hand.
Just worth mentioning that being far away isn't always a deal breaker. I flew to Maryland to buy my MR2 Turbo, and once I sell the bimmer, I'll probably be flying to Texas or CA to pick up a Civic.
trade :) ? haha how fast are these compared to an m3?

Bone stock the 540i6 is supposed to run a 14.0 @ 100mph. I've never modified it or taken it to a track. I drive it to work everyday and solemly swear never to abuse the car I NEED to be reliable everyday.
I do run it through the gears occasionaly (good for the car - burns carbon deposits and such off the valves). I have run the gears against a few cars on the highway - it kept up with a Hemi Charger R/T and pulled away in the top end. I also walked a Nissan 350Z pretty badly. The car is definitely healthy. Right now I'm getting 19.7-20.5mpg city driving. I get over 25mpg on the highway.
You can tell a beat car by it's fuel mileage. The rings start to leak and it won't make as much compression, requiring higher revs to keep the car at the same speed (lowering mpg).
It also helps that I work for BMW, so the car gets what it needs with religious fluid changes and maintanence. Right now the only thing the car needs is possibly 2 tires. And can probably go a few thousand more on the tires it has.

Sorry, no trade unless you have a 96-00 Civic hatchback. Gotta save money for the wedding.
UPDATE!!! I just got the COMPLETE service history for this car from 68,000 miles to TODAY. This car has been METICULOUSLY serviced and EVERYTHING that goes bad on these types of cars has been replaced at the dealership. I have the service history from 0-68,000 miles being faxed to me at my work, as today is my day off, I'll post tomorrow with that info.
I'm seriously entertaining keeping the car. I really need the money for the wedding, but this one is a jem. I was concerned about being able to afford any fix-it's while saving for the wedding, but nearly everything has been done. Now to the good stuff (with documentation) I'm leaving out some oil changes, as that would take too long to type:
12/28/05 -102,389 miles
-Inspection 1 (oil change, washer fluid, replace MICROFILTERS)
-Replaced faulty wiper motor and relay. Checked to OEM specs.
6/25/05 - 97,563 miles
-Replaced Auxiliary fan. Drained and recharged A/C, checked operation, functioning to OEM specs.
-Replaced faulty right front turn signal bulb and socket.
-Completed customer requested FULL CIRCLE REPORT. NO ITEMS FOUND TO BE OUT OF SPEC.
3/28/05 = 94,909 miles
-Replaced burned out LF fog light
-Replaced burned out LS brake light, cleaned contacts.
-Replaced both front SWAY BAR ENDLINKS.
-Replaced both DRIVE BELTS.
11/23/04
-Replaced faulty exhaust CAM SENSOR
-Replaced leaking EXPANSION TANK
-Replaced ALL VALVE COVER GASKETS
-Replaced BANK 1 CATALYTIC CONVERTER ***
8/21/04 - 86,174 miles
-Inspection 2 (oil, microfilters, air filter, spark plugs, diff fluid, diff seals, wipers inserts)
-Replaced RF fog light bulb
-Replaced rear CUP HOLDER
-Replaced rear brake lights
-Replaced rubber oil filter housing bushings
-Replaced RADIATOR
-Replaced POWER STEERING LINE (res. to pump)
-Replaced REAR BRAKES
1/16/04 - 76,963 miles
-Oil service (oil, filter, microfilters)
-Replaced BOTH O2 SENSORS
-Replaced valve cover gaskets
-Replaced BOTH REAR BALL JOINTS
-Aligned.
10/30/03 - 74,171 miles
-Replaced BATTERY
6/19/03 - 68,773 miles
-Replaced BANK 2 CATALYTIC CONVERTER ****
As you can see, this car has had thousands and thousands of dollars of maintanence done to it. BOTH cats, 02's, ball joints, radiator, x-tank, cam sensor, etc etc etc.
The future owner of this car will be very satisfied knowing that the niggling problems that are customary to E39 540's have almost ALL been addressed on this vehicle.
I'm rather pissed I dropped the price to $13k. Oh well.

I may be interested in the car. Shoot me an IM at REVS28K. What OEM parts are included? Do you have the original wheels? How long have you owned it?

I don't have the original wheels. I have found a contact number for the original owner, and I have all the service records. I'm going to see if the dealership has the rims in storage (we do a winter tire storage program at my BMW dealership, they might too), and I'll call him. No garauntees though. Price is considering the wheels that are on it.
The car is completely stock except for tailights, sidemarkers and grills. I will include all the original OEM lights, grills, etc, mint condition.
I've only owned it for 7 months. I have to sell it to pay for my upcoming wedding... her folks bailed on helping. :( I have all the service records from 40,000 miles to today.
If you have any questions at all, please email me. I check it all day long.

No go on the original wheels. The dealership doesn't have them, and won't give me the guy's number. Anyway, shoot me an offer if you're serious.

DEAL SWEETENER!
I work for BMW. The person who buys my car will be able to buy any OEM BMW parts at 10% over cost (employee rate - cheaper than car club, wholesale, or just about any other place you can buy parts) and I'll ship them anywhere in the cont. US for free. This car has had just about everything, but it's nice insurance, I guess... and good deal on accessories and wear items.
