Edit: I decided against buying the Style 24 wheel, but I'll leave my posts in this thread untouched for anyone else who's looking for a set of these rims. -GPB

Just thought I'd test the waters and see if anyone wants to sell me their forged, original BMW M Double Spoke Style 24M wheels. The polished wheels were an option on E36 M3s and are 17x7.5 front/17x8.5 rear.

I will consider either the painted, stamped LTW rims or the un-stamped ones. My preference, however, is for the un-stamped, polished wheels, and I suspect they will be easier to find.

No replicas, please. I'll accept wheels with or without tires. Seller must be willing to ship to Atlanta, Georgia. Please PM me if you have a set for sale.

I have a set of the M 10-Spoke I's (stamped with "BMW Motorsport") for sale. Here's the link:

http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52947&highlight=10spoke

I currently have someone who is very interested, but he is in CA, and I've been wanting to find a local buyer to avoid shipping hassles. There's a link to pics of them in the thread.

They have 235/40/17 Michelin Pilot Sports on them w/ about 60-70% tread left. They are in good condition, with some curb rash on 3 of the 4.

Let me know, because I'm in ATL, too!

Thanks for the kind offer, Ron, but for now I really have my heart set on finding the forged M double 5-spokes. If memory serves, you have the cast 10-spoke wheels.

Yeah... my bad... I misread your email. I had it in my head that you were saying you'd also settle for the BMW Motorsport ones, but I wasn't thinking that the M-Forged came with that.

Well, it appears my first buyer is very serious about them, so I probably have them sold, anyways.

Sorry for the confusion.

M3ryder,

what wheels were you considering to replace your LTWs? i too have LTWs on my cosmos M3, and have debated whether or not to sell them. i have considered the SSR GT3s.

apologies for getting off topic... but i too might have a set of wheels for you in the next few months.

Oddly enough, the GT3's are a possibility....if I can get past the fact that they're so open and expose so much of the brakes...(i'd be forced to get a BBK if i got those....) :devillook

Otherwise, it's a tossup between BBS LMs and Fikse FM-10s.... Those are only if I really want to go all out....but i'm usually an all or nothing type... :D

I spent a couple months hunting down these wheels myself. Apparently BMW didn't convince alot of M3 buyers on the $1200 (!!) option, so there aren't many around. However, two M-forged's just went on ebay for about $190 a piece, shipped:

Acker Wheels in San Jose has these wheels in stock for around $350 a pop:

http://www.ackerwheels.com/pls/wheels/cust_info

That was the best I found, so I gave up and got some BBS RK's instead. Thought you might be able to use Acker Wheel, though, and if you wanted to pay ~$300 or something unreasonable, I'd tell you that I have a 17x7.5 M-forged spare in my trunk. Good luck!!

You guys ROCK. Thanks for the links!

M3D - You have cast wheels. Cast wheels are softer than forged wheels and thus are more prone to bending. Forged wheels also tend to be lighter than their cast counterparts. Aftermarket replicas of BMW wheels are typically cast. Here's a link to a good writeup on wheel construction:

A follow-up question for ///M3RyderNY, M3formeM3foryou, or jdmorris. Does the genuine BMW forged wheel have the part number stamped somewhere on the wheel, like on the back?

Are there any replicas that DO have the recess for the ///M badge?

Thanks!

I'm afraid I can't be of too much help here. I never did get a chance to check for a part # on mine. I knew the seller, so I was good to go.

As for replicas with the ///M badge...I've never seen any!

Norman -

Acker Wheel is actually selling new OEM rims, not refurbs. Brand spanking new. It seems to good to be true, but I asked multiple times.

Others -

As for the part number thing, I don't know of any identifying marks on the rim. Like I said, I have a spare in my trunk and it's pretty devoid of particularly special markings. I will say that you could identify it's forged nature by the machining marks inside the wheel on the rim itself. A cast wheel would be smooth, but you can see the tiny machining ridges all over the inside of the wheel where BMW cut costs by not polishing. Only the polished, textured and painted front side doesn't have them. And no, I haven't seen any replicas with the badge. Once again, good luck!

I have a pair of 17x7.5" original stamped LTW wheels if you're interested. One is in perfect condition, the other one has some runs in the clearcoat that can be seen if you look very closely. Absolutely straight and no curb rash on either one.

Here's a pic from the aaarims.com website, but I can send pics of my rims if you're interested.
http://www.aaarims.com/wheels/59257.JPG

Edit - The p/n is most definitely cast on the inside of the OEM LTW wheels. Actually, all but the last three digits are cast, and the last three digits are stamped (the last three being different for the 7.5 vs. 8.5" wheels).
