View Full Version : Salesman claims '06 M3s are going for over MSRP

I was at Moritz today taking one of the cars in for an appointment and happened to overhear a man and his wife inquiring about a new M3 convertible. He said he wanted to maybe see what they had and what kind of payment he would be looking at. The salesman said that right now the M3 market is "very hot" and that the coupes and convertibles are worth more than MSRP, but he "could see what the manager says." He said people in California are calling them daily offering over MSRP for the cars.
That surprised me because I figured now was a good time to get a coupe, but I'm not paying anything near MSRP for one when in one year a new model with a V8 will be available.
Any thoughts?

I find it sad theyve had to put a V8 in the M's.
1)Its' just gotten to damn big
2)Its gotta keep up with other motorsport cars
I miss the E30M..theres a true race car. Screaming lil 4 banger. =..[
I'll go get my new car when I get outta school. So I have a choice in 2 years between a 330i(prolly go CPO), or a E36M.
E46 is a sharp looking car, if I get the 330 it will def. be a E46. E36 for the M...E46M's are a pig.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Out of production = no supply. Demand is probably the same or maybe more = prices going up.
Any dealer charging over sticker sucks....and Moritz is the worst dealer in town by far IMNSHO.

He's stupid.
There is always 2 or more of them sitting up at BMW of Austin so I don't see how demand is grater than the supply.

The Chrystler 300C's were selling for $5k over MSRP for about their first 6 months on the market, EVVVVERYONE wanted em.
But thats not as expensive as the M...

looks like he's not too far off. Of course the LA/Miami markets probably skew the data a little bit. I'd be curious to see the data from KBB by region

The reason I don't believe that is because when I was there three weeks ago, both M3s I had noticed hadn't budged from where they were before.

why? have you not noticed a trend in larger motors throughout the M's life?
I miss the E30M..theres a true race car. Screaming lil 4 banger. =..[
a true race car? and the newer stuff isn't? the 1980's isn't a handle.. you can let go... seriously
I'll go get my new car when I get outta school. So I have a choice in 2 years between a 330i(prolly go CPO), or a E36M.
and we care why? in 2 years you'll change your mind again... if, that is, you're really ready to buy by then...

well duh if you got a 330 it would be the e46... oh i'm sorry, you gonna get the e36 330? :rolleyes
e46m's are a pig? are you kidding?
e36m = 240hp/236tq @ 3175lbs
e46m = 333hp/262tq @ 3415lbs
almost 100hp for 240lbs... if we put your mom in an e36 they're even.. what's your point?

Yes, and I think its nothing more than a departure from its heritage

?? I simply think they had it right in the 80. I gotta GQ that has a article in it about some of the best cars ever being made are in the 80's. Go in the E30m forum and tell them that they can't keep par with anything :rolleyes
and we care why? in 2 years you'll change your mind again... if, that is, you're really ready to buy by then...
Most likely. I have come to really like the benzo's lately myself. I personally thing MBZ has a lil better build quilty IMO.

E46M drives like a pig. Best one I have ever had the pleasure to drive is a E36M. Its very balanced, feels like a very refined road car. Personally, I don't like how cars are getting a more and more big in size, and have a much more posh ride to them, That is why I prefer the earlier model cars, they have a much more raw feel to them.
Simple driver pref.

You're stupid
please fuck off
thanks.
I will agree with him that E46 M3's are a bit oinky. They don't feel far off from a E39 when tossing them around.

no offense to e30/e36/e46 M owners, but you need to go out and drive the new e90 330. probably the best handling 3er yet, only thing its missing is a LSD.

Thats one thing I havent had the joy of getting to drive yet is the E90.
Is it a poshy ride like the E46, or is it a little more refined like a road car?
