i'm trying to figure out if you can fit a 6 series seat into the back of an e30. no one seems to know, i've gotten "it should fit" "it would be too big" "i've seen people put them in 2002's" but that's all. i would love to know if it's possible to make it fit, but i don't wanna waste money on a seat i may have no use for.
thanks a whole lot if anyone can do this. the people at e30tech would like to know to

You should do a search locally and see if there is anyone in your area with a 6er. The back seats of the e24s are a cinch to pull out so anyone that has some spare time and a willingness to help a fellow bimmer enthusaist should be good to help you out. You could try and search for dimensions of the cars too. Measure the back seat of your E30 and then perhaps someone here could measure the back of the E24. Im assuming that the 2002s didnt use the center of the back seats. But that would be interesting to know. Are you just looking for something to set your car apart?

Just measured my e24 rear seats at 48" from seat edge to seat edge. The inside panels (from just under the window) are 55.5". I assume this is the measurement you wanted? If not, just shoot me back and I'll measuer my E30 when I get in from work.
hope this helps,

That's a nice diagram. Where did you get it?
The 51" measurement in your diagram corresponds with the 48" measurement that I took. The 55" that I was talking about is the distance from the side panels that function more like the front door panels. Measured just above the arm rests. I measured that same distance to be 56" on my E30. Make any sense?

I got to thinking about it. What if you took the interior panels from the rear plus seats and brakets from an E24 and put them in your E30. It's hard to get a consistent measurement because the front and rear of the seats vary, so finding the exact reference point is tough. It looks to me like the dimensions will physically work, give or take half an inch to an inch, in which case you could come up with some creative filler, and no one would know the difference.
