Try blowing them out with a hose like I said. Depending on where you live they can clog up in as little as a few months and their efficiency goes down the drain. We blow ours(3 of them) out every year...

Yep, I don't win a e-baller status award. I just live here for the summer (and yes Eric this is the one you came too) and I remembered my 'rents complaining about how high the bill was.
My utilities in college station for elec is like 60 cause its split between three roomates. In no way do I win a baller status award, lol. Now if it WAS my house I might brag a little. I got a couple decades before I can afford any kind of house.
Jetter - my 'rents live in Highland park in Dallas. They moved here after I went to college. I personally think the area is ostentatious and over done with a bunch of milfs running around with their husbands money. The house is way to big for the modesty I grew up in. But whatever floats the 'rents boat, they pay for it; I'm just living here for the summer cause my Internship is here in Dallas.

Highland park is full of rent-a-wives. Rockwall is the same way. Roll thru there during the middle of the day, and nothing but rich ass soccer moms driving around gabbing on their cell phones and buying starbucks to drive their $45k suv's around.
It's sickening. It will be many many decades before I can afford some 4800sq. foot house, or any of the houses that my 'rent currently own.
Honestly, Even if I WAS making $250k a year, I dunno If I would go out and get some huge 6k+ sq. ft house. Then you gotta pay $1,000 electric bills etc etc.
I'm more a fan of the 1 story, surrounded by trees(looks cool and low electric) with a nice pool in the back, and a nice big garage, thats my dream house.

Even if you were making 250K a year it would be tough to live out here. All houses are 800k+
Our house is actually built in the 70's, it's low and flat and built on stilts so it doesn't actually look huge.

My stuff is from 1991, so it isn't very efficient. What appears to have happened is that the upstairs unit (I have two, one for upstairs, one for downstairs) began to fail last month, and ran a LOT to try and keep the upstairs cool. It stopped working altogether yesterday, so the A/C guy is coming tomorrow to see what is wrong. I hope it isn't the compressor...:eyecrazy

One of our rental properties is overhung by alot of trees.
Its a 2100 sq. ft house and the electric bill there for the family of 4 was only $114 last august and that was with running the AC alot.
Damn trees. Newer subdivisions don't have the trees there yet. Whenever I buy a house, I wanna get an older one with big trees around. Not only is it more asthetically pleasing than the typical cookie-cutter treeless california looking street, but its cheaper on the AC.
