Hey guys,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I've been looking at getting rid of the wood, or "plood", trim in my e39. I don't want to pay hundreds for the brushed aluminum trim, I just can't justify it.

I've seen some "stick on" kits ob eBay and on the internet, but I just can't seem to fathom how that works and fits in all the corners and creases.

Has anyone painted their wood dash trim?

If so, what products did you use?

I did using aluminum colored engine paint and wheel coating for the clear coat. Came out perfect...but you HAVE to do it in the right steps. I am overdue to get some pics up if someone can host them for me, that I will do a full write-up. Someone wanna hound me to get off my ass lol ;)

Here's mine, used Krylon glossy black spray paint. Sorry it's at such an angle but you get the drift..

i used a textured metallic grayish black paint, yes it has a shine to it but is not real shiny, but thats what i wanted. i wanted to get as close to the color in the e39 m5 as possible. since it has fully cured i put a coat of turtle wax ice on it every now and then, works great.

Alright..well I've got the supplies now, and began prying off the wood trim.
How do you remove the Business CD/Tape flip-up cover? I can't quite figure out how to remove that piece, and there is nothing in the Bentley manual.

I'm thinking I'll paint mine using body color. I think that would come out really cool.

How do you think it would look, if the trim was painted black with tan interior? I'm thinking of doing it...

flip the cover up and you will see 3 small circular clips, you need a pick tool with a hooked end to pry them off.
