just an FYI if you get questions...your CDC is I-Bus compatible (note the PI at the end of the writing on the door). It will be plug-n-play for any e38 with a mfg date of 9/98-01 (1999-2001 model years). The 95-98 e38 uses a different CDC that communicates on the M-bus...it has a different CDC cable that runs from the front MID unit to the CDC in the trunk area...and the CD magazine is also different.

This info will carry over to any other BMWs around that time...they will all need to be I-bus compatible...or route a new CDC cable if they want to use it with their stock sytems in older BMWs with M-bus changers (like in the e34/e32/e36).
