Please be patient. I have two questions. The first one deals with the automatic transmission. I've read some posts on this but really couldnt find the bug. Maybe one of you can help me out.

I have a 1988 635CSI automatic trans with sports selector. The transmission seems to have a mind of its own, switching from S to D without warning. I did recently have a CD Player installed at circuit city. Does any one have an answer? Could this be related to loose wiring due to the install? Any ideas or suggestions?

Second issue is a radiator problem. I have my car in the shop right now having a new radiator installed. The mechanic quoted me a price of $400 for the OEM Radiator. I challenged his quote with prices I found online. He stated that those are cheap aftermarket radiators that will not work with my car. Is this guy pulling my chain? I really have a feeling I'm being bent over? Any guidance?

Thanks for you input. I'm new to this Bimmer game so help a brother out, :)!

According to realoem, a radiator for your car with trans cooler in it is $456.44. They aren't cheap, but you can find oem quality for less.
Here is a website for you to remember: realoem.com. You can put in the last 7 letters/numbers of your VIN and it will tell you what your car is down to the build date. It will also tell you, with a fair amount of accuracy the availability of oem parts and cost.

Welcome to the world of 6ers. :wave
