Well my engine still pulls hard, but the front timing chain tensioner needs to be replaced, and it sounds like my 6th cylinder valves are making some noise. No knocking, or really ticking even, just doesnt sound smooth like i think it should sound. Now ive got money but im no way in hell rich. I was thinking i could either run it till it dies, then worry about it. Or sell it now and buy one of those baravian performance engines what im wundering is.

1- how much could i get for the engine i have now??
2- does anybody here have a baravian performance engine (the one with the cams, pistons, and porting) how do you like it??
3- or last does anybody else here have any better ideas??

Im sorry for the list, but anyhelp would be great.

What drew your attention to your timing chain tensioner, and that it needs replacement? Mine clatters alot for about 10-15 minutes after a cold start. But then for the rest of the day, its fine. Because it only clatters when cold I dont think its necessary replace it. Its not a functional thing.. its just noisy when cold. Is that like yours?

With the timing chain, when ever i back off the throttle, i can hear the chain fly up and hit the underside of the valve cover. That im not to worried about, (easy fix) im mainly freaking out at the roughness sound coming from the 5th, 6th cylinder valves.

Can anybody describe the difference in sound between a timing chain thats a little loose and therefore hits the underside of the valve cover like Morbidrazor is describing, and the so-called Vanos Clatter that is so common in our cars?

I also hear the noise where it sounds like the TC is comming up and hitting the VC on deceleration. Its a noise that is hard to explain. I can actually feel the noise through the VC if I hold my hand there.
