Making a swaybar stiff is the same as shortening it, so for "full-stiff" use the holes furthest from the end of the swaybar. Conversely, "full-soft" would be using the holes all the way at the end of the bar. And with multiple holes on each end, you have a range of adjustment in between "full-stiff" and "full-soft".

(I'm not sure what you mean by "lower" or "higher" - when a swaybar is installed it's generally in a horizontal alignment.)

Hope that helps,
Jim

you know having full stiff front & back will have a good bit of understeer right??

as mentioned, for full stiff settings, use the holes closest to the bar.

so if i want to counter act the understeer, id run full stiff front, full soft rear? can someone confirm?

-oh yea... and did you notice how HEAVY those bars are? i feel like my car is slower...maybe just cuase its so hot and humid today...

no, full stiff rear to counteract understeer. full soft in front to counter understeer.

i'm getting these in the next week and i'm wondering what the general consensus is for good balance....i've heard middle hole in the front and soft in the rear. any club racers care to comment?

I run Mid front, Soft Rear......with 245/45's all around it's neutral...balanced just like I like it.....

Prev owner ran it one notch higher (full stiff both ends) since he lived in a flatter area (Mesa/Az) and being a NASA instructor tracked a lot....same thing..neutral.

But what works for one car is different with another. 95 and 96+ are different from the factory a tad. Also different springs, shocks, camber and toe settings, tires and tire pressure can all affect balance.....

from what i've read, the e36 is the opposite of the norm when it comes to sway bars - on an e36, the stiffer the front, the less the understeer.

i have this set up on the staggered wheels and the car seems to understeer less... i haven't been able to test them on a sustained sharp turn yet though.

wow. these are a bitch to install... the rear links are a super tight fit and forget the stupid greese fittings, youd have to drop the link to get to it... well whatevers, i really havent noticed and handling differnece either, ill have to go tear up a canyon to see...

you got it installed in the right position? they are really tricky....when i was installing my m3 sway bar, it was upside down but it sure looked correct as far as i could tell. as soon as i reversed it, it went right in place.

(v)3 - that contradicts everything i've ever read about handling. stiffer front...more understeer. stiffer rear....more oversteer.

the fronts went right in, the rear was a problem, but can only fit one way. if its reversed, it will hit the gas tank and CV's.
