I bought an e36 325i and I think it has an m3 exhaust system. From exhaust it connects to gear box (some kind of a sensor) does it mean it has m3 gear box? I have attached some pictures please have a look and let me know if you know. Thanks

where is your cross bar??? what do you mean it connects to gearbox?? you mean there is like little bushing there to support it?, if so its normal. But yea, get that cross bar in there or but x brace

i'm not talking about x brace, just peice of pipe that goes from one side to another, without x part of x brace. All cars are supposed to have it.

i took off the cross bar...there is a sensor which is in the middle of exhaust system and it looks like it goes into gear box. EMITION SENSOR? This is a UK car and I have been told its an m3 exhaust (not the back box, the other part - cat)…

first pic looks like it has the 2 into 1 into 2 pipe infront of the cats like my past 93 325is. i vote for non M exhaust, aftermarket muffler.

that wire that goes into your "gearbox" is the plug for the O2 sensor that plugs right above/next to the gearbox, I can see how it give the illusion that it plugs into your tranny. I dont see any reason why the exhaust would be connected to a gearbox, what purpose would that have? (relation between tranny and exhaust)

IMHO
