540i Sport Tire recommendations

hi guys,

I'm looking to change all 4 tires on my 2000 540ia w/ Sport package and i was wondering what your recommendations are.

i basically have the stock 17" rims and i'm looking for some decent all weather tires that will afford me decent traction in wet and dry conditions and light snow conditions, i have a 05 legacy GT for the winter time.

I've looked at tire racks reviews and ratings and their basically recommending:

1)Kumho Ecsta ASX all weather
2)Continentals ExtremeConti

and a bunch of other tires.

I was looking forward to installing the Pirelli Pzero Neros but they apparently don't make the tire size to fit my stock rear rims :(

Any help from you guys here will be appreciated a lot.

oh the tire sizes are:
Front: 235/45WR17
Rear: 255/40WR17

I put a set of Sumitomo HTR Z II's from tirerack on my 97 540. Incredible bargain for $85 each. They look cool (directional tire), are super quiet, and handle great in the wet and dry. I was concerned that would suck for the price, especially since I had a set of Michelin Pilot's on prior. But I am very impressed. No way will I spend $200 for a set of Pilot's again. These may not work for you since you are looking for an all weather tire (I live in TN). However, it is a hard deal to beat. Good luck

Yeah i do need all weather capability, especially with the weather here in Chicago.

I would have gone for the pirelli pzero neros, but like i said before, they dont make tires for 255/40 r17

When I had kumho ecstas they seemed to wear pretty fast compared to my pirelli pzero neros. I would suggest those but they dont fit your rears.

just put on 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's...

best tire available, hands down (says me... AND road and track)
