I send out my request (Thread) asking all adventurous BMW drivers/owners of the 6 Series and 5 Series (Sport) to join me(GMAN), and a few others on a drive you will never forget.

Let's quickly re-cap: The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap comes with 318 curves in 11 miles and promises to take your breath away as we test our limits and sharpen our nerves on the curves...:eek:

That might be somethind id be able to do, but where is it? Sounds like it could be reasonably close to southeastern pa? I guess this will be in the rest of the details, but sounds like it should be fun! I would hope that wolfie will be ready by then.

It will be a good preview for SouthEast SharkFest, which will be held next year at the Biltmore...

...and I'm guessing some of us will wind up on that road - lol.

You guessed it correctly guys. It will be a pre-run to get a taste of the TOD. There were a few 6er owners who said it would nice to go this year so I am setting one up for some play time!:redspot

Additional details about the run are soon to come but for location sake, The Tail of the Dragon is in North Carolina to the Tenn. border. Check out the pics.

i am considering it.the 1st date proposed was a conflict.i spoke with jared and there's a chance i'll attend.as the way it turned out for SESF,i won't know until the event gets closer.
i also informed jared that 3 hrs was a little optimistic.he probably drives a lot faster than i do.it was about an 8hr drive to Spartanburg,how far north is the Tail of the Dragon from Spartanburg?I'll pull out the atlas and check.

plans have changed again.in my quest for medical treatment for a severe,chronic injury,i have been accepted to be seen at the Mayo Clinic in jacksonville.1st day of testing is sep 8th.i'll be driving the 960 for it's comfort,and most importantly-AC.i may just run the wagon through the 'TAIL' on my way to Fl.,or on the way back.I'll be be leaving tuesday or wednesday to stay with my daughter in Fl..the 'ol volvo aint no bimmer,but it can still be pushed.the all aluminum,twin cam straight 6 in the 960 has few more HP than the 6's 3.5,but the 6 will outperform the 960 in every other way.well,the wagon does offer a little stealth quality that the 6 can't hide.
really there is no comparison between the volvo and the bmw(2 completely different rides),but the injury that takes me to the Mayo made the boxy volvo,suddenly a very appealing car.i must add that i also feel just as safe encapsulated in the cabin of the 6!!!
