Does anyone know how much a BMW salesman makes after he sells you a CPO or brand new car? We all know car salesman aren't the most academic achieved people in the world nor is the most looked upon profession but how much money do they make? They get commission on the car plus the options and packages they sell you?
Anyone know the complete details? Just out of curiousity

This is a very open ended question.
First off they always make more on used than new. Most are somewere between $100-$1500 a car depending on the car and final price. The options and stuff get commission to the finance officer mainly. But every dealer is differnt.
Salemen make anywere from $15,000 a year all the way up to about $500,000
This is sales the harder they work the more they make. More people make less money than more money.

My ex girl used this website to find what dealers really pay for cars. It's really really good, I'm telling you...worth the $20 or something

like it was said before, it really depends on all the little things. How much between invoice and MSRP, what accessories, finance options, etc. Plus there are spiffs of bonuses called a mini. No not the car, but a mini commission on the sale. some cars have anywhere from $100-$1000 commission. The sales person usually make a percentage of the gross. About 20%.
Now every dealership is going to be different. a sale person will have their monthly draw or minimum amount they need to sell every month. Average is roughly $3000. plus any fast start bonuses (how many cars they can get out before the 15th of the month). The more ya have out the more ya make. Lets not forget a bonus for the most car outs at the end of the month. Theres alot out there to factor in. I haven't seen any guys here makin $500k. But an east $150 for the better ones and $65k-85k for those first startin out.

Don't say that "car salesman aren't the most academic achieved people" in the world. Most dealership for upscale stores require a college degree, which is more than most jobs require. Secondly, most sales persons are only doing it temporarily, because it is quick money. I just don't like stereotyping people like this. I sold for 6 months while i was in school at Georgia Tech.

Of course not, I'm not trying to stereotype. I'm just speaking in terms for those people who do it for their entire lives. I'm not saying its a bad thing, but if you had a college degree from a respectable college like Georgia Tech, would you live the rest of your life selling cars for a living? If you still do by all means do what you like. Theres more bread to be earned with a college degree. Before I bought my Bimmer, i stopped by the local Honda and Acura dealer and from what I heard from the salesman, most of them only had high school degrees or attended community colleges. Very few attended a 4yr school.

This may be true for new car dealerships, but used car dealerships are another story entriely. My ex girl's father was a used car dealer, and fit EVERY facet of the stereotype. It takes all types, I guess.

i am a salesman at a chevrolet dealership, people make per month AS A SALESMAN about 3k-8k. I never see any money for accessories, so i dont care about them, all i care about is getting a huge down-payment out of the customer or a large monthly payment. And basically its kind of complicated but if you sell a car over sticker (always without the customer knowing it, because you make the payments high) thats how you make money, minimum 100 per car sold, but the last guy who sold a new z06 got 6K just for selling it.

I don't think that there is much money in selling BMWs or any production cars. Nothing more than a regular job.
As a sideline I have been brokering Ferrari's and other exotics for years....and when I say a sideline......I mean just having fun finding cars for friends. Placing a 1m Enzo one will make more than a years salary at a dealership.....and you have no office hours or boss.
