View Full Version : It looks like I need to get one of those big pop-up shade tents...

Anyone here have one? Any suggestions? You know the kind with the nylon top...they fold up all small like, and have this accordian-style support system?

One of my new customers wants me to detail his F350 every few weeks, but he has no shade to do it in. I'm thinking I'll need to put the pop-up top over it, then do one half at a time...

Oops, I forgot...the truck is black...

You will need a very large one for that truck (especially vertical clearance). These things are heavy even when reasonably sized. Weigh all the options.

I have no shade either. What I do is park the car in the shade of the house early in the am, wash the car, pull 2/3 into the garage (as far as I can fit) and do the detailing. Eventually I will build a semi-permanent car-port style tent.

Yeah, I wish I could do that, but his schedule doesn't permit me to do it early in the morning and the orientation of his house makes that the only time to find any shade.

I'm thinking get a normal sized tent with good vertical clearance and do it one side at a time...

I would recommend one of the E-Z Up brand of shelters. I purchase one to use for tailgating at sporting events. Check out http://www.canopies.com/

If you buy a normal sized one and try to do one side at a time, won't the side you do last be too hot from the sun beating on it even after you put the shade over it? :dunno
