I have been trying to read up online about gas price forecasts but all that seems to be out there is a predicted "less fatal" hurricane season that last years down south coming up, "lowering" prices slightly....And then the CSPAN Analysts are just going to town over gas prices hitting $4/gal by the end of this summer.

Does anybody have any insight on this topic?

Thanks!

It really depends on so much things but I think regardless of what happens down the road prices are NEVER going to go back down. There is too much demand coming from other countries that never needed so much (China, India, etc). That and the fact that our refining capabilities are lacking over here, gas prices will continue to go up through the years. Plus anytime the media even hints war the market panics. $4 gal by oct? Very possible.

There will be $4 gas prices atleast by mid-summer. If we drill in alaska then our problems would be over for awhile but the tree huggers will never let us.

I read somewhere that one company is looking to drill in the Gulf of Mexico. The oilrig is the size of three football fields.

It's the greedy oil company that's keeping our oil/gas prices up. :rolleyes

No matter how high the gas prices gets here people will still drive. I mean our gas prices are no where near what the rest of the world pay.

I'd drive if it was at $5. Taking the bus just isn't convinient enough to justify taking it.
And if it got really bad i'll just go buy a civic and get 40 mpg. You can get a 92+ civic for around $3k in good condition and just call it a day.

Dude you said it. "For a while". I am not a hippie but do want to move forward not destroy. Why would be want to be good for a while?

That means that after the "while" is done, we go right back to this.

my prediction is that by 2012 gas will be free because I have a car in my woodshed that runs on rice, just waiting for the patent to get here/someone to shoot me.
