BEHMER

First off I am no longer doing the fixed racing buckets in the rear. This would have required a custom gas tank and too much cutting for my taste.
REAR BENCH: I am having a complete custom rear bench seat formed and upholstered. The bench will be formed for two people and will match the same design as the front seats I install. My interior guy is known for crazy custom rear seats/benches :-)
FRONT SEATS: The seats I am 90% set on getting are Z3 sport seats. The auction for the seats ends in only a few hours. I love the design and they look super comfy.

-If you have any last minute warning on these seats now is the time to save me!!
- DO THESE Z3 SEATS RECLINE ALL THE WAY BACK? I was worried about that.
Anyhow the leather will be ripped off these seats, or any seats I get, and they will be wrapped in the materials of choice.
OVERVIEW: I want a more modern yet factory look in my car. My complete two-tone interior is going to be 100% suede and leather. The color pallet is limited due to factory carpet colors. My main goal is to have this interior be bright, plush and crisp. No black carpet. Let keep in mind that this will be a show car, a weekend warrior, and hopefully a Euro Tuner feature once this interior overhaul is complete. I will be ordering the dove grey carpet today from the factory (It’s the lightest color they offer). I am inclined to keep all the interior colors on the grey scale. This will give me more to work with if I ever decide to go for an exterior color change(Black, Gunmetal, White, ??) I am not set on staying grayscale so please give your thoughts. My original plan was doing gunmetal silver leather (Like the finish on my HRE’s) and light blue suede like the exterior paint. That would be amazing thought !?! ya feel me?
I suppose we should just start with a few pictures of the car to get your ideas goin’..

Note: I will be removing that old tint on the rear window to make the interior stand out even more.
FABRICS: First off I will be going all synthetic with the fabrics. This will insure consistency of hide (or lack there of), durability, easy maintenance, more options and last but not least a savings of over 2-3 thousand dollars. This stuff feels dead on too…The “Leather” has same feel/texture and the “suede” is super soft and can be drawn on:-D
METALLIC FABRICS: I want such a bright/clean interior that I have even started looking into metallic fabrics for the secondary (Door Inserts, Seat Bolsters, Center Console, and instrument cluster surround). I feel the carbon fiber look fabric will soon be played out but I found some others new fabrics that are really catchy. I saw some amazing brushed aluminum fabrics, steel fabrics, and metallic pattern fabrics(snake skin, weave, water drops, shapes, etc). I feel going with a metallic pattern might really bring some depth to the interior but it is also a bit far out for my taste. Hmmm. This stuff all feels great too.
DASHBOARD: I am customizing the dash quite a bit. I am extending the right hand side of the instrument cluster pod to house a recessed 7” touch screen. This will be in place of the central vent. I still want a central vent but it will have to be smaller than that giant triangle vent. This means its time to do some vent shopping. I have been looking at other BMW models, Mercedes, and Porsche for a nice set of vents. I will be converting all the vents too retain a consistent style/function. I have no Passenger air bag so I have plenty of hack room over there. The dash is going to be completely stitched in leather/suede. This guy is a perfectionist with his dash work. His French seams are to die for and this guy is sticthin Ferrari and Porsche all the time so it’s going to be a treat for sure. My main worry is retaining a factory look with the extension for the screen enclosure. I want it recessed enough where outside light will be shielded. Kind of like how Infinity worked there CPU/NAV in there.
CENTER CONSOLE: Now that I am relocating the screen to the upper vent area the front area of the center console will stay relatively stock. I will be fabricating a touch-pad W/buttons where the hazard button is but that is about it. The rear section of the console will be a bit more custom to house another screen for the rear passengers. You can refer to this model I built way back…just remember the console will stop after the rear screen as I will be keeping the bench in the rear. Also the front screen will not be there either.

DOOR PANELS: I am still undecided on this. I wish I had more free to time to fabricate but the dash and the center consol are going to take up my summer as it is. If I do find time I will fab my front doors to house a nice 3 way component set (Tweet, 3”, and 5 ¼” drivers). Like mentioned about the inserts will be a soft hopefully metallic fabric and the rest will be leather.
REAR DECK: Still in planning too. All depends on what type of subwoofer configuration I go with. Must have direct ports…must not jeopardize structural integrity. I will research this more down the line.
I think I covered everything…and wasted enough time at work… Please post up all thoughts/experiences/examples/wild ideas/traditional ideas/etc. For today I would really like some input on these Z3 sport seats. I will hopefully be winning the auction when it closes in the next few hours…unless of course I get a big red flag from your responses. FYI on that: I am about 5’10” and 150 lbs.
You can find pictures of the seats here…

Thanks so much for you interest and input with this next, long awaited, stage of my project car. Many of you have been there since day one and that is what really keeps me going on this. I am looking forward to finalizing the interior because that is the day when my car will be well rounded and ready for serious looks. I got the power(S52 W/mods), I got the handling(KW V2, UUC sways, TC designs sub-frame kit), I got the exterior(Behmer Designs body kit, Umniza lighting, HRE’s) and now I shall have a clean flowing all custom interior to cap it off. I hate and I love to say that this car is nearing completion. A Nice Audio/Video setup and a turbo setup would pretty much be curtains on this one.
I cant wait to start blowing some of this money I have made :-D Let roll on this people!
