i believe there is a "test and tune" or some other type of regular drag race at Ennis tomorrow. Is any one here going or interested in going? I dont really know if i can go yet but if i have company from the german "wolf pack" it might be more of an incentive. Any time i get out there i'm always the only 'M' so it would be nice to have another one come along.

I hadnt even heard of it. Man if this was only next week.. I get my car back next wednesday.... so next time they are doing something out there sure. :(
They do it every week. I will go next week with you. I just replaced my clutch, so I dont want to start raping it the first weekend. 11/15 would be better for me. We went a few weeks ago and had about 6 BMW's caravan down there. It was pretty tight. I can set up a meeting place and get the same people back out if you want.

I think the 22nd, David of DTMotorwerks, is setting up some VW and audis to go along with some bimmers. That might be a cool time to go.

i will be there definitely. talked with carlton again today... on schedule for wednesday... WHOHOOOOOO! :D
AaronM3,
Is there a reason you are running 8.5:1 ?? Are you adding a blower?

I am adding a blower in february.. its my birthday present from my stepdad. I had the motor completely rebuilt.. so i had them reseal each piston and lower the compression ahead of time while they were in there. Good observation though.. i didnt want to announce it until I got the blower...hehe. :D

What kind of pistons did you get? You don't have to lower the compression to s/c. What kit are you going to get? With 8.5:1 pistons the car will have not tq, what made you decided to lower the compression?

got the JE pistons..... got the idea from good ole Jim P. :D But i took the compression off my profile until I get the blower.. no sense in advertising something i am getting in feb.

Jim Powell is running a mechtec/AA turbo, not a s/c. Lowering the compression works great with turbos because they spool up at lower rpms and provide non-linear boost. A s/c has linear boost, running 8.5:1 is going to kill your bottom end. 8.5 is really low also, you could have gotten away with not lower the compression at all. What s/c are you going with? Most are going to top out at 9 lb of boost, thats only at 7k rpm. I know you probably know all this already, but I'm trying to understand why you are lowering the compression that much?

Well.... i just called carlton and told him not to lower the compression. I hate how he does not speak good english.. he thought i was putting a blower on it within the next day or so. Compression was fixed back to normal.........thanks for the warning guys.

Yes... he had not put the pistons back in yet b/c he was resealing each piston, so the head was already off , it was not a big deal, yet. Had this been wednesday.. i would have been screwed. Anyway, i told him the deal and he told me he would put the JE's in when i am ready for the turbo in feb.. minus the cost of a new gasket. :)
