No matter what i say, someone is gonna tell me that it's stupid to get it and blah blah blah, but that's not the point of this thread, i don't care what you say about it. But for those that actually wanna help. I was trying to figure out what to use as a heat shield, and i was wondering, do you think one of those windshield things, the shiny chromish things that fold up. like these things:

do you think if i cut up one of those to fit it would work for a heat shield? what about if it's folded to two layers?

any better ideas that's easy to get a hold of?

you would want to make like a rubber lip for it or something to seal it on the hood and in the cornel panel of the car but I think it might be a good idea.

Haha, that's a sun shield. It's designed to reflect light, not heat.

I'm sure that would do absolutely nothing to keep heat away from the intake, and it would probably be a fire hazard to keep a fabric/paper based material so close to your engine.

And now I'm going to give the obligatory "What the fuck are you thinking?" post.

If you want a CAI for power, don't bother, it does nothing.
If you want a CAI for the sound, just drill holes in your stock airbox and it will sound exactly the same.
If you want a CAI to make the engine bay look good, then don't make a half-assed, ugly heatshield around it.

I'd fabricate one using either penthrite or torpex if I was to put a CAI on my car.

^^^ So true, all the work is already done for you and it looks much more factory than anything you're going to make with a sunshield:confused .

Don't listen to the haters. Make one out of a sunshield, then post pictures.

Ok, you've already wasted 30 dollars to lose two hp.

Either...
A) Eat the loss and keep your HAI.
B) Waste another $60 to get those two hp back.
C) Buy the materials to fab up a real heat shield to get those two hp back.
D) Get those two hp back for free by putting your stock airbox on.
E) Make a heatshield out of paper and fabric << HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
