This is the most expensive sticker on the planet. I think I should call Guinness. The chip on my shoulder about my past with Mechtech is GINORMOUS, but today, it shrunk a little...I said a little! ;)
I had been wondering for a couple years if pulling off the other sticker from the other tuning shop would ruin this sticker. My car has been in the shop so much that when I am round it I am so excited that I always forgot to pull off the sticker and see. Not today folks, and to my pleasant suprise....:D

Wellllll...not really smog cause those guys aren't idiots but I got smog covered anyway. Nah, this is mainly for those pesky cops that are going to pull me over and pop the hood. That has been my biggest fear of all! Getting the car impounded. At least this should keep me smooth sailing if I get pulled over. I am going to try dual mufflers plus a race cat and hopefully that will make the exhaust quiet enough to keep the cop attraction down a little. And who knows, if I try to smog her and it doesn't work, what do I lose? $60? :lol
The widebody is close to being done and I hope to get the engine put in someday soon so all the turbo crap can get started. Kinda staying on the DL with it so no new pics.

Yeah, Cali doesn't mess around. Ricers have really blown it for the rest of us out here. People think we're all hippies but we have the most laws...it doesn't make sense.
Yup! Gonna fly Vic down to tune her after she is broken in on base map. :D

Well, I don't know. I probably can't keep my big mouth shut about it. When Vic comes down to tune it I might post the results. Unfortunately there are a lot of people on here that have issues with dyno machines and I wouldn't want my thread to get flamed because people don't believe my numbers. I did say I might not post my numbers and just wait to get the car to the track to post a trap speed that will tell how much power the car makes.
I don't think I can wait until a magazine debut but I might wait until Dubfest comes to L.A. in October. I would rather debut the car at a car show so people can see it in person. That would be more fun than some thin magazine you can't even buy at the local supermarket. ;)

Nah man. You don't want to see it when Vic is down cause the car is all primered and ugly looking. The fenders aren't even completely finished to perfection. You want to see it when it has been painted and is all shiny. Then with the paint you will be able to see the lines and everything.
Yeah, I need to shut my big yap and just get this car done. I am pushing for 6 weeks before paint. We will see. It has been so long already. Yeah...too bad, you're just gonna have to wait. ;) I can't wait to get my turbo...I hope it makes it in time.

Yeah, I bought a turbo a while ago but I think it is too big or small...errrr not sure. :stickoutt
I am having the engine put in, manifolds fabbed, piping fabbed, exhaust fabbed, radiator, intercooler, blah blah blah all done with the car crap primer finished so there are no worries about scratches. So the very last thing that is done is paint. That way nobody will touch her after paint but me and then I can just drive her. :D Thinking of doing stone guard to the entire front to keep her looking good.

I work on those a fair amount and let me say. Badass car, fun to drive, but maintance is costly. Not to mention stock clutchs are about the size of a 325 clutch and they last 30,000 miles. If you test drive one, drop that thing and be sure it dosn't slip.

Cam has mentioned it in the past, I'm pretty sure SFR (Speed Force Racing) out in Santee is doing the manifolds, unless Cam went with someone else.

Sweet, make sure that the paint shop doesn't remove that. Is your engine going to be in the car when it is painted? If so, make sure that they don't overspray. I've seen a lot of FMIC's get spotted.
I don't think you'll ever have a problem with cops. It's the ricers that they're after. Once they see your engine bay they're more liekly to ask for a ride than they are to ticket you.

Thanks! Yeah right after I pulled the other sticker I explained it to the manager there what it is and that nobody is to touch it.
That is the only bummer about doing the paint last...overspray. I will heavily inspect the prepping and making sure that the entire bay, IC, piping and all that is masked off with tape and plastic.
You are very true on the cop thing. Even when I had my super exposed FMIC with piping before the cops stayed away except when I was going 100mph. This time the FMIC will be blacked out and I hope the exhaust is sort of quiet so there will be less of a reason.
You will never be able to hold yourself to that Cameron, you're too much of a show pony :-)
Care to put a wager on that one? You might be right, but only time will tell. I would assume that you agree the trap would be the best information to tell all rather than a dyno number that is relative to so many things...even if I use a Dyno Dynamics. ;)

Well, now I feel a challenge. Can Cameron keep his big mouth shut or not? This is good. Thanks Kenny, you are helping me. Maybe in the regional California forum there will be talk of a silver bimmer doing burnouts at 90mph down the freeway. But hopefully that will be the only information available until I get my ass to the track. I will notify Vic and anyone witnessing any of the dynoing to keep their cell phones, digicams and traps shut. Damn I can't wait until I can tow the car to Speed Force Racing. The car needs a heart!

Hey thanks! Yeah, I am stoked on the sticker! I'm also stoked on the way things are happening. My widebody is done to the point where the car is driveable...if it had an engine that is. So I finally get to take it over to SFR soon. They claim they shouldn't take more than 4 weeks cause they feel bad since the project is already 3+ months past due. So they are ready to rock on her as soon as I deliver. I feel really good about going Tec 3R and flying Vic down. I mean the guy has tuned the only BMWs in the US over 635whp that I know of including the 1025whp ICS Bumble Bee. He seems to be undefeated with his track record. I will definitely take you for a ride. I just wish I could find someone that has installed Racelogic on an e36 M3 before around here. Then we could floor it at 10% slip and it would be so damn fun! :redspot

And the one thing that really kills me about GMC is that they were not smart enough to give a turbo diesel option for the H2. I mean how bloody stupid can they be? Yeah I was really frustrated by both the interior size and the engine of the H3... technically it actually has the same power/weight ratio as the H2, but they couldn't fit a V6 in the engine bay. FWIW, it IS a rather large I-5.
The reason they didn't put a turob deisel in the H2 is because they want you to shell out another $40k for the H1... believe me people do too.. the new H1 Alpha increased HP by about 300hp and torque by about 150tq when it came out last year.

Thanks for the info. After all the issues with gas prices going up and the hippies flipping us H2 guys off and burning Hummer sales lots, you would think that GMC would be smart enough to think, "Hmmmm, if we can't fit a V6 in there, then why not an I-4 turbo? The turbo would make it more efficient and keep the hippies off our backs!"
And the damn H1 is more like $60k more. Out the door the H2 is $62k if you are lucky and the H1 is $120k if you are lucky. Turbo diesel FTW. Hell, turbo period FTW. I was almost thinking about doing my own Duramax turbo diesel swap into the H2 myself and seeing if a referee would sign off to make it smog legal. Same engine in big GMC trucks so why not? But with the baby coming i don't think my wife can turn her head on another project as big as that. ;)

Yeah it depends on the area you live in... most of the sales guys here were able to get $70k for a fully loaded H2 because of the demand - all of the ball players (Sonics, Seahawks, Mariners, etc) ALL came to the Hummer dealership I worked at to get their H2s, so to sell an H2 below full sticker (AND 2nd sticker) would be 'beneath' them. People paid it, so I guess that was the market price here. H1's however were slow movers so people could usually offer MSRP and we would take it - we had more deals fall out due to financing on an H1 then actually sold and closed though (I was a Finance Manager so I know!). We had one guy actually have to bring an H1 back because he couldn't provide proof of everything he needed to! They moved so slow that we had a brand new 2004 H1 softtop that the Product Manager was willing to move at $10k below MSRP (about $2k below invoice) just to get rid of it! So, the price between what we were able to sell an H2 and a H1 for was about $40k - you are right though that the MSRP between both of them is about $60k (or $65k).
I'm so F'in glad I don't work there anymore! That was over a year ago now...

Care to put a wager on that one? You might be right, but only time will tell. I would assume that you agree the trap would be the best information to tell all rather than a dyno number that is relative to so many things...even if I use a Dyno Dynamics.
..
Yes I would! You can't help yourself show pony ... you will post a dyno sheet, talk about a dyno sheet or something like that before you post your first timeslip.
:-D
If you want the proof, then go to an NHRA approved track, take a photo of your car with you in it on the race scales and then post the timeslip for the trap speed.
Once you know the vehicle weight and the trap speed, you know the engine power.

Yeah I really like that idea. Hope I keep my big mouth shut. I really need to weigh the car anyway since I have so much media crap in it. Might be over 3500lbs.
I plan to do just what you said. We will see. I want to prove you wrong. There is a track that opened up only about 35 minutes from my house. It is currently 1/8th (Booooo) but it is said they are going to make it a 1320 track and supposedly it is prepped pretty good. I can at least do some practice stuff there before it becomes a 1320 track.
This will make you happy. I have been talking to my fabricator about some things the last few days and finally broke down. I will be doing a lot of stuff now to make the car pass NHRA regs. I don't know about arm restraints or anything that crazy yet but I am taking some measures.

:buttrock Hell yeah! Well I haven't been there but I talked to some guys that were going to a race day there. They said it's on the Indian Reservation sort of on the way to Barona or Sequan I think. They were claiming that the track is better prepped than Pomona and all the other tracks in southern Cali. That it is sticky not just for launch but way up the track. Claiming it is 1/8th mile but will be made to 1320. I'll have to get more info but just hearing this made me crazy. I have been waiting for a track to be built around here since Carlsbad was destroyed by bulldozers. It might be this one but this looks further away than 35 minutes but it is closer than 1.5 hours or so like the others link (http://www.baronadrags.com/map.shtml)

OH...MY...GOD :wow
Mapquest claims 45 minutes from my house and 25.81 miles which means it could take much less time than that! ;)
It is so on like Donkey Kong! :redspot I now have a place to work on my short time. :alright

Found this pic. Not sure how old it is. Looks a little ghetto but hey...at least it has digital et/trap boards for each lane! Carlsbad didn't even have that.

My first turbo kit was a Mechtech turbo kit which is the only BMW turbo kit that is 50 state legal. So if the cops try to cite me I jsut point at the sticker and say it's smog legal, thanks, have a good day.

Good work Cameron. Regarding NHRA requirements, look at my other thread which gives the full details.
First up you need to know how quick and how fast you think the car will go. A fabricator can help you with the following:
+ Four point or six point rollcage
+ Tailshaft loop
+ Harness mounts
+ Fixed back racing seat
+ Chute mount
+ Wheel studs
+ Scattershield
+ Bellhousing/ballistic blanket
+ External cutout switch
Arm restraints are just a small loop for each upper arm that clips onto your five point harness; they are the least of your worries.

I can see a driveshaft loop, and possibly a 6 point cage. The cage can be the harness mounts right, and is a fixed mount seat required for a 10.5 second pass?

For the anal one's that check against the sticker here's the process:
I believe the E.O. number has to be on the turbocharger itself. There will also be a serial number on the turbo, that has to match the serial number on the turbo manifold.
If you have someone that can die a serial number that onto the manifold your golden, I doubt anyone can really see the turbo anyways, at least on my setup and can't even see the turbo since its all the way in the back.

Hey thanks for that! :wave I might try that. My main issue was with getting pulled over. I cop won't know or be able to check the manifold anyway so just having the sticker should be fine for that.
Can't wait to see your car boosting! Make some vids!
