CHECK engine LIGHT's ON ????

what does it usually or what could it mean when the ENGINE light comes on and stays on .... for long periods of time ??? any help is appreciated !!!

The CEL is emission related. It could be as simple as a gas cap, or your o2 sensors. I believe Autozone will allow you to scan for free. Many places will do this. I still bought myself a Peak tool, it comes in very handy. You can drive with the CEL but potentially could cause damage to other sensors and components if you drive for a prolonge time.

could be pretty much anything emission related, i also got a peake scan tool cuz i was tired of having the CEL on and not knowing what it was. its annoying
