Is this gasket necessary when replacing my tstat cover ( # 7 )? Is there a part number for it? I can't seem to find it on line.

Not essential but for about £1 sterling ($2 ish) from a dealer it is worth just replacing.

no, just the o ring #6 and the profile gasket #8.

If it's the metal tstat housing, only o-ring and profile gasket (orange rubber).
But the old school plastic housing uses a paper gasket.

Thanks for the input guys, but now I am confused.:confused RealOEM.com does not show a part number for this gasket. If I can get the gasket from the dealer, will it hurt to use it? The new cover is plastic.
Thanks again,
Erik

use the "O" ring and orange profile gasket -- plastic or metal housing

Plastic replacement? Well, if you have it in your hands already, ok. But I believe that the o ring comes with the tstat.
