....i am curious as to how much to price my touring if i sell it. it has salvage title due to a front collision but it was repaired nicely. black on black with 140,XXX miles. a/c blow cold, all electrical works, engine starts right up everytime....any advice would be great!

ummmm 5k? No matter what, the salvage is going to hurt you. Its unfortunate, so many salvage cars have been really well repaired.

Mine is a '92, non-salvage title. I bought it for $4000 w/145,000 miles, silver w/black interior, no flaws, runs perfect. Personally I feel like I got one hell of a deal, but I'm not sure I would have paid anymore than that for an excellent example with a salvage title.
The problem with buying a rig with a salvage title (and I have done it before) is that it's a crapshoot on what you may be buying in regards to problems. I need a screaming deal to be willing to take that risk, regardless of how good the seller says it is.
EDIT: I think you have one hell of a good looking Touring, by the way.

Nice E34 tourings seem to go $4-5k, typically a salvage title takes at least 1/4-1/3 off of the value, even when repaired well. You'll probably do better selling it to a fellow enthusiast than just someone off of the street, we all know that condition and upkeep is the most important thing with these cars. Very nice car, good luck with the sale.

Its nice car, but im thinking 3500 care to elaborate? The process of applying a full coverage policy to a salvage titled car is easy- your ins. company appraises your car and insures it up to that amount. This is best achieved by using a real insurance place locally tthat has an office. geico may not have such an option;) By your logic what would happen if someone rear ended his touring? They pat him on the back and say, sorry bud?

thanks for the input. im thinking of selling it for 3500 and maybe dipping down to like 3000 if i really, really have to. the car is not doing anything wrong to me. its just that i want to get a hold of an E30is for a project/toy car. but things are still up in the air. we'll just see what happens....

Honestly, if it's the car in your sig I'd advertise it for 3750 firm. Someone will take it- salvage or not it is a BMW 5 series touring.

its the one in my sig (minus the wheels coz i sold it) and i'm actually thinking of pricing it around that area. if i sell it, i want a quick sale so i figured that would be a reasonable price. it is a touring and there isn't a whole lot of them out there. i'm sure im not the only one who love these cars and the way they look....:)

I'd say $4.5k. Not sure if someone here will pay that, but I think you should be able to find a buyer through paper ads without much trouble.

I agree with this guy. Anything under $5k and salvage is not THAT big a deal. If it is very clean, everything works, and has some tasteful mods, I could see $4.5 as well. Up here anyway....I have sold three E34 tourings, none with less that 149k miles for around that price or a little less, and they were just decent.

my touring isn't exactly tastefully modified (most of it is stock) except for the wheels i had on them but that sold a couple of months ago so virtually the car is stock. oh yeah, i put in a drop-in k&n on it. thats about it. it is clean but of course being around for 14 years i would say that this car still have some shine left on the paint. i'm having it buffed out by this one body shop sometime this month to really bring out the shine on the paint. and yes, there is a new tranny on this car (spent $1000 to get it installed which i think was a bargain - Hamlets BMW in Glendale, CA) and it shifts like a champ! virtually the car is perfect. everything works as it should. if it wasn't for the salvaged titles, i'd say i can get at least $6000 for this one (or maybe less but around there) but.....:(

State Farm will insure all the way up to comprehensive...you can put uninsured motorists and towing and liabilitybut you cannot get full coverage
So do you have contact info on who you sold the wheels too?
