I have been looking into some mods for my 02 530. Friends have recommended the Dinan chip S2 and throttle body with cool air intack. I commute 70 miles a day and enjoy my drive. I just wanted a little more pep... I don't think I need any suspension work and the standard brakes are fine for my driving. Any other ideas??

It would be nice to be able to comfortable pull away from my boss's 00 540i stock. What a discussion point that could be...hehe
just sell it and get an M5. E39 M5s are getting cheap.
No way a 530 pulss away from a 540i unless u put a supercharger on the 530i.

The only way you're going to be able to pull on your boss's 530i is if you get a Supercharger/Turbocharger.

I was looking at a supercharger, but can't find a good place to get the work done. Dinan doesn't show it as an option. Any recommendations around GA.

unless a mod gives you 100hp or more dont even bother. Chips, intakes, and exhaust are all nonsense. Especially if your after a 540i. Just get an m5 like everyone else said.

Performing Imports in Alpharetta will do it.

Try Vf Engineering Superchargers. 6000 installed and if you have a manual tranny you will blow him away. If you got an auto tanny you'll be pretty close to each other.
I just saw a CPO 2001 M5 for 36000 with 41000 miles

If he has an auto, the auto will be destroyed by the power/torque upgrade.

Nope. My 530 is an auto. The most you have to do is put an exhaust on that eliminates the mid-pipe and muffler. This will eliminate a tremendous amount of back pressure in the goofy stock system.

You have a A5S325Z, meaning the trans can handle 325 Nm of torque in stock form. Given that I have seen the tolerances to be about 10-20% over rated, that would give a max (somewhat) safe long term torque of 390 Nm, or about 287.649 lb-ft.
How long have you had the supercharger, how often do you change the fluid, and what kind of fluid do you use?

The car has 155000 miles. 10000 with the S/C. It was just checked out by a BMW Master Tech last week. He and BMW both agreed that the extra power is nothing to be concerned about. The facility has regular clients is similar situations driving 5 and 7 series S/C with even more miles.
You loose power through the auto though.

Huh. Ok.
I've just seen the autos fail like crazy with 540's, 325s, other normal BMWs, even when not supercharged. I am very wary when it comes to putting more power through the autos.

Some of the earlier 530's had the GM A5S 390R, with a 390 Nm rating versus the ZF's 325. Do they hold up better??

Thanks for the input, I have a manual. I will check out the two areas recommended. Are there any other mods needed with a S/C?

Has the strut brace stiffened the car uncomfortable or is it still smooth like stock.
