(pardon my typo in the tread title)
I think I'm going to trade in my 1999 528i for a CPO 2004 545i.
Are there any problems or issues with them that I should be aware of?
All the reviews I've seen say-
performance = amazing
I-drive = okay once you learn it
cup holders = as sucky as ever
But honestly, that's all I know about the car. Anything I should be aware of before I drop $40k+ on one???

Honestly, nobody really knows how they hold up yet. There are very few E60 owners on this board, and very few high-mileage E60s, so there is not much info available.
I would personally avoid it since it is a first-year car, and I do not like the N-series motors. (too many sensors and things to break.)

Looks good in white with the sport package. The navigation system is really nice too. I think the interior sucks.

Yeah, I usually don't like 1st year runs either (despite having an 05 stang). But I don't think I can afford an 05 545i. Anyway, that's one of the reasons I was asking. After all some cars suck the first year out, and some don't. I was hoping that with a CPO it woudn't be MY problem when/if something broke.
What I really wanted was a good 540i with low miles, but I can't find much in my area and the ones I do find are so expensive that it's not much extra to jump up to the 545i.

For the price you can pick up a nice '03 M5!!! Last model year, all the kinks worked out, fast as hell... Not the e60 but it's an M5 after all...

having gone to the dealer today, we kinda like the E39s a bit more than the E60s. I know it sounds stupid, but the E60s just look big and heavy.
btw: the service tech I spoke to said they haven't had any big problems with the E60s (yet) and said that the 5series have always been their most reliable cars.

I love M5s and I'd be all over that idea except it's going to be my wife's car. She drives about 20k miles a year for work and is on the phone with the office most of that time. Thus, an automatic tranny is required.

He just put some Dinan stuff on it too. No problems to report.
