spoiler bulbs?

3rd brake light integrated into the spoiler doesn't work anymore. Assuming that the bulbs are burned out? Are the bulbs replaceable in this or do I just need a whole new unit?

If you are talking about the e36 spoiler (I see 02 M3 in your info) then it is part # 63 25 2 489 862 for just the replacement LED strip. Dealer has it, bavauto.com has it (although I can't seem to create a good link to their site), and I'm sure many others have it as well.

The bulbs are replaceable.
I've done it. They aren't in series IIRC, bc only one went out on mine.
Bought the new bulbs from Kragen.

There is a plastic plug over the centre holding screw that must be drilled out to take the strip apart.
Careful not to drill too deep or you will bugger the head.
