I can confirm that it does make a helluva difference in performance.

I am glad to hear this. I am thinking about getting one for my e39 540. Have you ever dynoed the car?

If you can put a Jim Conforti chip in an e39 540, you let me know how :cool

I will dyno it soon and see what the results are.

The reason for this post was that I wanted to highlight the fact that the JC chip was not one of those mods with little value attached. I feel like I definitely got a good bang for the buck.

Bluecobra, I believe you will have to get a Shark Injector for the e39 series. I remember seeing them on the www.bimmerworld.com.

I was thinking about getting a JC chip for my 94 540i, but the shop I go to for service warned that one could potentially screw up the car by confusing the computer. i.e., while diagnosing the car the computer reads that it has a faulty O2 sensor or something when it is really just confused because the fuel mixture is different or whatever. Is there any merit to this claim?

I haven't had any issues yet; and I have chipped a previous bimmer before with no issues. This is not to say that it ISN"T possible to "screw something up", there is always a chance.

Has anyone ever had any issues after installing a JC chip, EAT chip, DINAN, or any other?

Glad to see you guys also reaping the improvememts. This was my best mod combined with the matching CAI. Just be sure to use premium gas. Highly recommended.

There's been lots of E34 chip conversation, I've never once seen an instance of it screwing anything up. I have a Jim C in my 540, never had any issues. zlh, you might do some reading on Jim C vs EAT, there's been quite a few people, especially on bimmer.info, that have gone from Jim C to EAT and liked it better. They're also cheaper if I recall.

EAT worked great on my E34 525 M50 and its great on my E34 540i M
and it is cheaper the other chips

Yeah, I realize they are different products. I haven't found one for the e39 540 though.

The Shark injector has only netted a few hp for people that I know that have put them on e36 M3s.
