Just broke the heads off my wheel bolt (from over-tightening :mad ) . Do you guys know hot I can get it out? Someone suggested drilling it, but what do you guys think?

The only way is with a drill extractor, drill a small hole, with a titanium bit. If you use a crappy bit, you run the risk of getting THAT broken too. Also, take your time. Go in about 3/4 an inch and go to the home depot and get an extractor. It grabs onto your small pilot hole, and pulls the opposite way of the threads, hence not running the risk of having to retap your hole. :buttrock

Thanks Rev! I'll head to Home Depot right now and try to get this sucker off today. I'll let you know what happens.

Some time a left handed drill bit works good. But your bolts might be to tight for it to have a effect.

Undo the rest of the bolts. Take the wheel off. Take a pair of vise grips or other pliers to the exposed bolt and unscrew.

Sounds a lot easier than what I did LOL. I actually welded a freakin bolt then just turned the bolt.

we all have our ways :)
so long as they work :buttrock
anyway, if theres a chance theres something to grab with the wheel off it should be easy to turn as its got no load now you snapped it.
if its snapped flush with the hub then you need to drill and use an easy out, same again, its got no load so it should shift. use drilling lube or wd40 to stop the bit seizing up ! drill a small hole to start and go up in size, dont try it in 1 you will snap the bit in there and be done for, new hub time !

Couldnt have said it better! But as my dad (mechanic) always explained it too me, there are millions of ways to break things, a few ways to fix em, and 1 or 2 ways to do it right. If he broke the bolt, he probably has nothing to use vice grips on dude. If he did it wouldnt' have the strength to twist it loose. One of the other guys made a good point. WD-40 or liquid grease is another thing you wanna let sit in there for maybe a minute before you start extracting. But i guarantee you, its just like anything else, get the extractor, and you'll use it again in your life TRUST ME, but this time, you wont have to go anywhere or spend any money! Good luck, let us know if you got it ok.

I assume that the wheel is still on. Take it off, depending where the stud broke off, the remainder may be very easy the turn out. If it is standing proud of the hub, grab it with vice grips, you may be surprised.
If it is broken below flush, drill it out & use an EZ out as above. Beware that they are brittle, if you go bananas on it, too might break, then you're hosed.

I finally had the time to work on the broken wheel bolts this evening. I purchased the items as mentioned by Revhard and it only took me less than 5 minutes. I could have done it quicker but I wanted to take my time drilling the hole. I also made sure that the bolt that was stuck in there was soaked with WD40 and also sprayed it during the drilling process.
Thanks again for everyone's input on this issue. Had I taken it to a mechanic, I would have paid close to $100 instead of $8.79 from Home Depot.
