My clutch is chaddering. I put the car in storage right after I got it and when I brought it out this spring (parked 3 months in my garage on blocks), the clutch was really chaddery. It has improved greatly from driving it, but the chadder still exists.
My question is: can a dual mass flywheel be machined/rebuilt? Is it worth it? What do you guys suggest? The car is a 97 328iC and I was probably going to keep with a stock clutch, maybe go to a stage 1.
Which direction do you guys advise I go?
Thanks.

The clutch is just fine in terms of holding power. I can chirp the car into 2nd without even trying (both up and down) and it does not slip much. What happens is I can feel vibrations in the pedal. I had another 328i and the clutch just felt solid. I THINK either the pressure plate is warped slightly (not sure how it would happen) or the clutch had been replaced before, but they just did the disk or something.
I have decided to replace the clutch, probably going to go with an OEM setup, I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure if a dual mass flywheel can be machined or not? I have read that it can and that it can't, but I'm not sure whether either one was talking from experience.
If it can't be machined, what would people suggest in terms of a replacement? I don't really want to go with a lightened flywheel or buy a new one from BMW (mostly due to cost). Ideas?

Yes, you can have it machined. I had mine done not too long ago and the cost was around $ 135 for the shop charge to machine it. Hope this helps.

It sure beats paying $900 for a L/W flywheel and clutch

Does anyone from the GTA know a good place to get the flywheel machined? What is the approximate return time for something like that? What is an expected cost?

BMW doesnt recommend getting it machined... Because a flywheel must be finitely balanced...
Honestly there is a EBAY seller selling OEM flywheels brand new and i must say they are affordable as hell...I think the users name is BUYCLUTCH....or something along those lines.
My 323i has a 328i clutch and fly now from that seller and car rock and rolls... I would recommend Go LUK flywheel that is an OEM part and the new design LUK Dual mass have like spline ventilators that cool the flywheel and clutch while driving...unlike the old ones.
