Hi Guys,
The trip down to South Carolina was great. I drove through interstates 495W, 66, 77, to 85. The scenery was fantastic. I road alone because I missed my caravan due to a late start (6AM), they were about an hour ahead of me and I did not want them to stop for just one 6er. :nono
Anyway, once I got there (Hyatt hotel) in Greenville, SC I saw an awesome looking Euro ALPINA. You might know the woman who owns it but let me say first hand it was a sight to see. All you had to do is sit out front of the hotel as 6er after 6er rolled in as groups and one after the other... M6, 630, 633, 635, ALPINA, Bi-turbos, L6, 8 series, 5 series, 3 Series, CSLs, and of course the new 645/650 in both configurations (e63/e64). It was great guys. The people were just as friendly too.:redspot
There was fun filled activities, great camaraderie, fantastic food, good hotel stay, fantastic driving (Caesar’s Head in NC), fabulous weather (70's-80's) and an array of awesome classic 6ers (e12/e24).
The event formally started on Saturday, May 19, 2006.
Day 1 - The Drive...And what a drive it was! After assembling at the Zentrum, we were off for the first leg of the drive, to Caesar’s Head State Park. The climb to the top was amazing...180 degree inclined turns followed by another, then another, then another 6er revving its engines. Over 20,000HP for this run and no 6er disappointed; all performed well. With continuous twisting and turning as we climbed to 3266 ft in a very short distance. The speeds were moderate but enough for even the most aggressive. I wish I had a camera to take the shots as we all scaled and descended the mountains of NC.:buttrock Man, Fantastic scenery: the mountain laurel was in bloom, trees canopied the road in most places, a few waterfalls, and the weather was picture perfect. Day 2 - The Show and the Glow...And what a show it was! We all assembled in front and on the lawn at the Zentrum as we detailed our baby's. :devillook A little wax here, a little cleaner there, in the end they were all shiny pieces of art; well most of them...:) There were 80 + cars at the second day event and the weather showed up to, it was like 80 degrees. Other things about the day were raffles, presentations, dinner, and a look, feel, of the New M6. I have video of this but I do not know where on this site I can post it. There were also interesting interactions with German engineers who work at the plant, BMW racing videos in the auditorium; quite a big deal.
Day 3 - The Auto-x. I did not go since I had to drive back to NJ but I heard it was great. It was a first for the SESF (Southeast Sharkfest) but it went off without a hitch. DM635 I believe can share the details on the Auto-x. Yes, I met DM635. He is a nice guy and we will be friends moving forward!:redspot
You guys should seriously consider, no! Go to next years SESF (Southeast Shark Fest). YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! IMO...:buttrock
Now, what you've all been waiting for, the pics.:lol (See separate post)
P.S. One final story. There was one brave sole who drove over 3000 miles and 3 days to join us at the SESF, WOW!!! This REAL 6er enthusiast came from California.:)
