well, now that I have a job, and will be able to get a set of wheels/tires with about 2 or 3 weeks of work, I am looking at my options.
I was set on these ASA JH8s from trierack, but now Im looking at some other things (although I still like these alot). forgive the LAZEY (not un-skilled..) photoshop:
http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/1239/mycarmods7nl.jpg
so some people were saying they dont fit the car. I think its just that they are too shiney comaired to the picture I took, and the shitty photoshop doesnt help. none the less, this made me start looking at some other options. Im pretty set on ginmetal/grey/black with polished lip, but open to other ideas.
here were some others I was looking at.

ACS type III
seen em. someone on the site has a very nice calypsorot with em. they look good, but I dont know, might not go with my black/calypso theme.
if I did those, I would want to color match every single thing that is not calypso on my car except the windows and such..
also, wont be able to afford them new. used maybe, but then I get used tires...
edit:
* looks at pics again...

you have a very nice car with a color that's hard to pull off a good look. you have to be very selective. i think a nice 5 star would do you good. ie: m parallels, acs type III's, hamanna pg2's, mvr's, etc.
m3 mirrors, along with twist skirts, m moldings, m bumpers and oem clear lights would turn that car into a very sexy beast.
the only calypso red car that always knocks me on my a$$ every time is gamite's e34.

you don't need dark wheels to keep a black/maroon look
dark wheels WILL take away from the car

I dont really like black wheels on too many cars, but you could always try something with just a darker finish....

NO!!! Clears belong on light-colored cars...darker cars need Ambers or Smoked...Other than that I like the M5 wheels!

thanks for the advice. i was thinking the same thing, bc i think they might stick out like a sore thumb if you know what i mean. so i was going to experiment with the clear and or smoked ones.
as for replicas, try www.thewheelexchange.com or www.aaarims.com
thats all i can think of right now.

not sure... in all my years of admiration of cars in general, i've never seen a maroon car i like, and additionally it's usually that maroon ones tend to look worse... i really think it's the worst color you can have for a car at all...
but again i've been shown that you CAN make one look good.. i think those that try too hard to make them different or whatever (like the photoshop with the dark rims) just ruin it... it takes skill to make maroon look good as it's probably the roughest one to match/contrast from the very beginning..

I agree. Maroon has always been my least favorite color for a car, next to Sea-Green (but I like Morea) and White (but I like Alpine). I used to HATE Calypso until I saw it on a late E30, and then on a few clean E36s. luckytopher has it spot on when he says that most Calypsorot cars are dirty and stock; they look great modded.

Beautiful car, it's nice to see more claypos looking really good.
I think that with calypso, your options really are kind of limited as far as wheel choices, The big tuning house wheels really seem to fit the car. I want hamann HM2's for mine, more likely replicas if I can't afford the real thing.

I'm going to give you my answer to this question, well since its a 318 they do not have dual exhaust, so that could be a problem, and im pretty sure the dual tips dont usually look original and nice..
