E39 540I vs. C4 vette

Today i was goin down what we consider a "highway" out here 55 mph limit, and at the light going onto it there was a C4 vette w/a loud exhaust that was revving his car up. I didnt rev back, kinda uninterested, especially since there was a little traffic up ahead. He takes off pretty fast, but once he realises im not really going, he lets up a lil. I pull up next to him goin 55-60, and we pull even. I point foreward like i want to go, and he nods. by this point the traffic is clear, and we both go. I kinda jumped on him(I think i went before he did) and we were even, i might have pulled a lil all they way up to 90-100 before i pussied out.(kinda running out of road, my dad's car, and I dont need a ticket)

I know it is lame, but when you drive a slow truck this is as good as it gets....

good run . but you pussied out at the right time the vette would have started pulling above 100 mph . but no doubt the 540 can hang pretty well at highway speeds

Sounds like he had the LT1. C4 'Vettes can have anywhere from 240hp all the way up to 340, if he had the LT4 engine. Good kill.

i dont think he was an LT4, he would have won(it was auto). My bro already kinda fucked up my dads car(he was haulin ass and shifted from 4 to 3 on the acceleration, thankfully he wasnt at the top of the RPM's at that point), and kinda burnt the clutch.

Its pretty cool drivin that thing, it hauls ass and a lot of people ask if its an M5. Only thing thats different is the badging, and valences(he has the m-technic rear bumper), and the topaz blue is kinda like the lemans. then obviously there is the engine difference. I would own that car in a second though if i could afford it.

You shouldn't have any trouble pulling an automatic LT1 once you get into the meat of third gear. Once you get to fourth, you should be walking away at a nice pace. Just don't race from a dig unless you're really on top of your game. :devillook The 2.xx axle-ratio auto LT1 cars are real pedal-stompers; hamfistedly stomp on the gas and you should see high 13's every time.
