03 530i vs 5.7 GTO

I was running late for work (15 minutes away) tonight so jumped off a green light and eventually began crusing at about 60mph in a 45. Did not realize that the two cars behind me were a 06 mustang (looked to be stock) and a 5.7 GTO. When I jumped off the light, I saw them coming up behing me very fast so I slowed down (thinking there maybe a cop car coming). I soon realized it was just a few guys looking for fun. ( I guess they thought I was trying to flex by the way I took off). Then, we get to the next red light and the Mustang moved into turning lane and went left, so here I am in my stock 530i E39, sitting next to what I now realize was this GTO beast. I figured what the heck so, I slapped it to the left (steptronic) and jumped at the green light. I was the man! for about 200 yards (in my estimation), and just before I was ready to switch into 4th gear, I was GTO food...but hey, it was fun, I was still impressed at how quickly I was able to jump out with the steptronic tranny. Racing is not an everyday ambition for me but, I have to admit that was really got my blood circulating.

If you were at the end of third gear and still ahead, the GTO and Stang weren't trying. I could see you ahead at the end of first...Sounds fun though!

The GTO may be fast but it is the plainest looking car ever. Just does nothing for me. Last time at the track there was one in a group with a couple of CTS-V's and the Caddys looked way better coming down the front straight.

I like the way the GTO looks, its plain but thats why its sleeper.

GTO with holden front end conversion = win.

easily my fav muscle car of the 60's. but now its just eh...when they made it more agressive in the rear with dual exhaust and a nice diffuser, it helped. But it is nowhere near 1967 status. the front end is very nice in my opinion but interior and rear is just overly domestic looking. I think it would be interesting to see a GTO retro car, like mord an chevy and dodge have done with stang, camaro and challenger.

I understand the sleeper look at think its funny as hell, but i wouldnt want a sleeper. how will anyone know you want to run with them ? lol

its way too plain and boring and has no "sports car" look to it , now it can be a good "sleeper" thing but personally they have a newer monte carlo/ dodge avengerish look to them . not taking away from the motor factor but they could have represented the GTO alot better than that . its an insult to the GTO name they should have just called it LEMANS
