View Full Version : Real bad shaking at 60mph +

Last month I got new lower control arms (Meyle) with centered M3 LCA bushings installed. Right after, it felt fine driving and all, then I had to go for a long drive (500 miles +) and during the ride I went over a rough patch of gravel where it was really bumpy because of construction, and after that my steering wheel started to shake real bad and has been for about the past month, it literally shakes side to side when you're on the freeway if you dont have both hands on it.

I am wondering if it could be a coincidence and that I just need to get an alignment done (wasnt sure if I had to after install) or if one of my rims might have cracked when I went on the drive and that could be the cause. The last alignment I had was in January and my steering wheel/car has never shook before this. Any help is appreciated.

Maybe more of a tire balancing issue?

Either way, I'd have it looked at. Vibration is your worst enemy, especially on an older model.

maybe a dented rim? check your tires for bubbles too...and like previously said balancing

I dont think it has to do with tire pressure, tires look fine from what I can see and there is plenty of tread left, etc. I am hoping it is just an alignment so that I can get it over with quickly when I bring it in, hopefully some part didnt break.

Balancing hasn't much to do with pressure...if you dented the rim even slightly it will mess up the rotation of the wheel. take the suspect wheel and tire off and let a garage check the balancing, if it's off they just have little weights that they put on them to correct it

Sounds like a bent wheel , lost wheel weight, or some stones stuck in the tread....

I was thinking the same thing, lost a wheel weight.
