I put on new Michelle Pilot Sports 3 months ago, had it aligned and balanced. The car drives straight and handles fine. But above 55 mph, i can hear loud noises coming from the tires. at 80mph, its very nosey. What I noticed though is that when I am taking a left curve at high speeds, the noise dies completely all the way through the turn. Making a right turn the noise doesn't go away. I don't believe its tire noise, so can anyone tell me whether this might be a wheel bearing problem, and is it an expensive fix?
I have bleinsten sports setup with 17 double spokes 235x45x17 around.

i'm a newb, but my guess is one of the left wheel bearings. my mechanic mentioned that the sound would increase as you load up the side with the bad bearing. in my car, he did this by doing a low speed slalom (20mph?) with lots of side loading of the car. I'd bet you can create the noise at lower speeds using this method if thats the case.

So my passenger side wheel bearing is bad? Since the noise is not apparent when I take a left curve.

no if when u make a left curve it makes noise then the pass side. Bc when u make a turn the opposite side has more pressure on the wheel due to body roll. Its the drivers side. What u can do to make sure is jack the car up and try to wiggle the wheel around, which ever one moves around is the side that is bad

What sort of noise is it? A wheel bearing will ususally illicit a howling or growling type noise

Probably a shop thing unless you think you have the gear to fix it yourself.

Should I replace the bad one or both bearings on the axis?

just had the same problem here. & same signs & symptoms as you. my front left wheel had that noise. my mechanic also diagnosed bad wheel bearings. we'll see tomorrow how the ride is after the installation of new wheel bearings.
thing is: how do wheel bearings wear out? my mechanic says it's b/c of my suspension setup & alignment settings: GC coilovers, CCP, -3.5 camber front, -2.5 camber rear, stock DS-II's. mpact motorsports tells me no b/c they race their cars all day & have not had wheel bearing problems. hmm?

My mech said potholes and unbalanced wheels and out of round tires kill them.

unbalanced wheels i would think, thats like a constant shaking of the bearing.
