Is it possible to use a 330ci 2002 engine and tranny into a 325IS?

I'm sure it is quite possible but IMO it would not be a worthy investment. It would prob be cheaper to just buy a 330ci or even better put a Euro motor in it from a Euro e36 M3.

Why the crap would you want the M54 instead of the S50/52 in your e36???
They're cheaper, cheaper to mod, and a little more powerful.
Plus it's proven that the swap actually works.

^Don't do an s54.
It's hella hard, and you're probably a little new to bimmers, and the s50/2 is a tried and true swap.
Granted, an s54 swap would be amazing, but lets leave that to experts.

the thing is I have an available 330 e46 engine available with only 50k, would it be easy to swap engines between my e36 and e46?

Uh ironically the E46 is pretty much the same car as the E36. Big differences are body;motor, front suspension and brakes. The rest is pretty much the same the rear suspension is identicle to ours. And most parts are swappable.

if you have it available i'de say to figure it out and go for it, i think it would be a nice swap, something original.....i mean it's not like you said "can i fit a chevy 350 in there" that would deserve a verbal bitch slapping
