My friend and I just recieved new cars. I got a 1992 325i automatic and he got his brothers V-tech integra (1995? i think). A huge upgrade from his 89 CRX and my 91 civic hatch...

His teg had catback exhaust, ROTA slipstreams, V-tech controller, headers, and intake.

I was so happy about my bimmer and I really wanted to race him.
Bad idea?

After work we decided to take them out on the back roads of illinois.
It was raining out so I kind of knew my wheels would be spinning.

We turned down a road that we knew was about a quarter mile long and took off from a roll (about 15 mph)

Right when I hit it I could feel my wheels spinning but so was his.
When we we hit second he didnt spin but I could swear mine did.
We were side by side until he shifted to 3rd and V-tech kicked in....
Even though he has V-tech I still think I did good because at the end of the race he was only about 1 - 1 1/2 CL ahead.....
I think the rain was my down fall so I told him we would have a rematch soon.

He won.

VTEC kicks in at higher RPMs...what gear he was in had nothing to do with it

VTEC, all the lag without the turbo...like waiting for bad sex

You would be hard pressed to afford an M3 on that $$. Most people on this board make that in 3 months

not to say the 325's are slow, but i dont think you have a chance against the integra. i owned a 93 integra RS DOHC 5spd and that car was pretty quick. I took on alot of cars and trucks with that car, granted i cant remember what it is like to my current car since it was several yr's ago. and that M3 you are going to buy i bet will be in pretty poor shape to be able to afford one on 20k a yr.

I haven't made that much in the past 3 years lol

If your car was a 5spd with some basic mods you probably would have won.

find me a 17 yr old that makes $20K a year, k? Most 17 yr olds work at McD's.
$20K/yr = more than $1000 a month, Im pretty sure an M3 isnt that much a month + insurance. Alot of the people on this site are rich old guys, Im not "yet" so we will see what I have by then.

That is cool and all, but look at the fact that you will HOPEFULLY be going to college in 1 year so you dont make 20k/year for the rest of your life. What are you going to do about payments then? Insurance? Repairs?

10$/hour may seem like a lot now, but that is petty change in the real world. Wait until you have to pay bills.....

Try better math.

20k/12 months = ~1600/month.

I was making 12k/year at 15 (1999) as a Computer tech making 7.75/hr. At 17 I was the youngest manager at Blockbuster making over 20k/year.

20k is not hard to do... I make that sitting on my ass selling on ebay casually. You'll find out soon how little 20k/year goes.

Hopefully you go to college. Because if you don't, and you're happy with your $20K/yr, then you've got a long life of debt ahead of you. Especially if you're going to spend all that money on cars.

Yes, this is all true. I am just saying that I will be starting college for computer science and starting a comp. science job with the government for $20K/yr. I know it isnt alot but with college and all I hope to be making bigger bucks soon. Wish me luck?

$20k a year for a 17 year old/ just entering college student is an insane amount of money, unless of course your dad just hands you everything and you have never worked a day in your life.

Pretty much. Its something most of these guys couldn't get away with in real life. I remember an OT poll that said the average member was like 5'10 140lbs.

Nice replacement for the car. However, at 20k a year I'd hold off on trying to buy an M3. With 17yr old type credit the payments would be huge and insurance would be prohibitive. College is more important than bankrupting yourself to get an M3.

My .2 cents

I work at a BMW dealer. 23$ hour "flat rate" for those of you who know how that works. I make roughly 40k a year and I can BARELY afford my 95 M3, Gas/food, Rent, Insurance, and maintance even with parts at cost.

Good luck with 20k, you can probably drive a non ///M car on that.
