I've seen quite a few negative posts about the rough ride of Bilstien sports and stock sport springs. I have a '97 540i with this setup and I love it. It rides great and handles very well. Figured I ought to get the word out from someone who owns the setup since I see alot of posts regarding suspension on here.

Does it lower the car when used with oem sport springs? If so how much?

Thanks!

I'm honestly not sure, the previous owner installed them before I purchased it.

Thanks!I put the Bil sport struts on my 2000 528i with the oem sport suspension. Rides just fine and the ride height is right where it was stock. No problems or complaints.

I have the front Bilstein Sports for my 98 540i sport. I am just waiting on my control arms to arrive before I rebuild the front end. I am hoping for a lot more control in the front. The car handles well up to a point. But sometimes if there is a bump mid corner (I do drive on NC country roads:) it really throws the SOB. Holding it down ain't always easy, haha.

I had Bilstein Sports on my 87 325 coupe with OEM M3 springs. Several other E30 owners with aftermarket suspensions agreed that it was the best mix, in terms of ride quality and handling. But the E39 is about 1,000 pounds heavier.

How would it lower it?

When I meant lower it, I meant if the spring perchs were lower than stock, hence lowering the car. If its identical in critical dimensions, then I guess the higher damping + OEM springs would work better...i.e. better control.
