I have a line on a 112k mile '88 M3. The owner needs to bail on it and is willing to deal.
He desribed the car as being very clean except for some rust on the lower strut towers.
Is this common?
Is it repairable?
Should I run the other way?
This car is in my price range, other M3 E30s are not. So if it is not this one, it is likely none.
Any tips, comments would be appreciated

I moved your thread for you :)

It depends on how much rust there is. If it is a minimal amount, it can be sanded down and be treated. If there is a lot of rust (like the strut is about to punch through the tower, then that would take some cutting, and welding.

I would have to tell you that you should probably go look at the car, and try to take it to a mechanic if you can. How much is he selling the car for? If it is for cheap, meaning quite a bit cheaper than most M3's, for the price, you could most definately fix it and still be under what other M3's are selling for. What are the details (miles etc?)?
