Hello all-
I installed Koni Sport struts on my non-sport e39 540. I decided to try it with the stock springs first, then change if necessary. With the struts on full soft, the ride is almost 2" higher than stock! Looks ridiculous with 19" rims.
Has anyone tried this setup before? The struts seem fully seated in the steering knuckle - just wanted ideas before I order H&R sport. Thanks in advance

New shocks will hold the car up a bit more for a while. If you want any kind of lowering, you need the springs, too.

I'm having trouble figuring out why that should happen. I'm not ready to buy that the shocks have to settle. If they were Bilsteins I would understand that they would ride higher due to the high gas pressure in the Bilstein but not Koni.

Possibly it's something else. Are the front and rear up by apprx the same amount? Or just one end?

They actually have settled about 3/4" just driving around today. They look just a little higher than stock now, probably due to by stock struts being shot. I actually bit the bullet and ordered the H&R sport today - the rears are not done yet so I will only have to do them once.
Hopefully this setup will not rub! Thanks for the replies
