Can you use the stock, lighted shift knob with this kit. I live in AZ and don't WANT a metal one...

Absolutely.
But if you ever change your mind about a metal knob, our RK3 now comes illuminated.
best regards,

Although without some kind of weight it will be more difficult to shift than if you add the extra weight, either with a heavy knob or a weighted selector rod, or something like that.

Matt,
Does UUC plan on offering a weighted selector rod at any point? Can you reveal that info to us???
I've read nothing but good things about the UUC SSK, but would also like to get a weighted selector rod. I'd also like to purchase this "total solution" from one company, so...
What is UUC's stance on this? Thanks
PS -- Can't wait to get your TM/TME's on my car. They are sitting in my closet waiting for the right opportunity.

I just checked out your website. Very nice...
My black car gets damn hot as it is during the hell months down here, I can smell the flesh burning on my palm:bawl with that lovely piece of machinery. I can feel the heat radiating up through the gear selector at times...
Too bad, you don't "rubber" coat it aka (MOMO "AirLeather"). With the extra weight and additional grip...

There isn't much heat transferred from the shifter itself to our knobs, the delrin liner is an effective barrier.
Remember one very important thing... stainless steel has a much lower rate of thermal transfer; that means it will feel warm for a long period of time, but will not feel as hot (higher rate of thermal transfer) as aluminum.
And one other thing not shown in that pic - the RK3s are now illuminated, the shift pattern and logo lights up in a BMW-ish orange.
