the best bang for the buck would be taking the snorkles off the oe airboxes, cutting them before they neck down, add some ducting from home depot and direct it to the foglamp or grill area. Keep in mind, the stock system is pretty good, you're only going to gain 5hp or so, at least on a dyno. Take a look at the system made by active autowerks, it's pretty simple and will give you ideas. I have the dinan system, it's prettier!

5whp gain on a dyno would be amazing - you won't even get that.

so i'm guessing AA is pulling our legs with the 25whp claim.
ok then, since all of them add like 5 horses, which one's the preetiest one for the buck? :D

Active Autowerkes seems to have a good setup for the M5. They claim you need all the upgrades together to get the best gains. Look on the site, but it's like an ECU upgrade, CAI, Exhaust, and something else.

no they claim 25whp with just the intake

if they claim 25hp with just an intake, i think that's a little expectant.

Like I suggested before, go with the whole package from AA. With just an intake, don't expect much. This is an M5, don't you think the intake system is near perfect?

25hp from just an intake? sounds a bit high to me.

Best bang for the buck... thing is you are talking about a 4.9L V8 with 400hp as is. Best bang for buck... shifter is already short, intake is near optimal, software is near optimal... I dunno, maybe exhaust for sound and some suspension...
