My dilemna is the "Drive axle mount housing"(I don't even see a name for it in the Bently Manual)...Is it safe to remove this?...I'm asking basically is there oil/grease/gasket/another surprise with removing this?

The UpperControlArm(UCA) screw that's next to the drive carrier is being blocked by the "Drive axle mount housing" I don't know what awaits me if I should remove this.

Its holding up the removal of the UCA because the screw is @bout .5 inches to long. PLEASE study the pictures(Outpushaft.JPG & DAM_Housing.JPG) Bently nor search doesn't provide me with information if this is safe to do, but if some1 has removed their UCA I would be most appreciative as I'm under the car & pondering whether this can be removed.

I don't understand there's clearly NO space or angle to take the screw out so the only way I see to remove the UCA successfully is to remove the "Drive Axle Mount housing". BENTLY says to remove the axle mount screws, but not the housing carrier screws...http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6334269&postcount=12 This shows the history of what I've been doing.

Don't take that side cover off - it holds one of the ouput bearings for the diff unit. You may have to take the rear diff cover off and reposition the diff unt/ring gear so you can get the side cover back on. You're also likely to get dirt into the diff if you take that cover off.

It's easier to just bite the bullet and remove the diff to take out that UCA bolt.
