I wonder if i can get some expert advice from all of you - I don't want a totally modded up car but I would like to dress up the performance slightly. I want more low range power (2-5k rpm) Should I go with Bavarian Autosport Power Programmer, Dinan chip or JC Chip. Any other chips I should be aware of?

Well I'm no expert at chips and I am currently trying to ecide the same thing myself. What I can tell you is that I have narrowed down my choices to the Turner chip and the EAT chip, neither of which you have listed. These choices are primarily due to everything I've read on these forums.

I beleive the Turner chip is a JC Chip. I read a comparison once between the JC and Dinan chips, and the JC chip turned out to be better suited for the street due to the low end and mid range torque. The Dinan chip started to really pull in the upper RPMs if I remember correctly. They both remove the Top speed limiter I think, and smooth the idle out somewhat(?).

I'm trying to decide on this also...I really want to chip my car, and the JC chip seems nice...just for a little more grunt, nothing crazy expected. How do you install a chip?? just curious. (going on a 95 OBD-I)

I would go with the J.C. chip/Turner Motorsports Chip. All in all a basic chip isnt going to do that much to your car as far as serious power is concerened. The majr benefits are the raised rev limiter:evil2 and removed top speed limiter:devillook . Needless to say I dont thin kthe difference between chip manufacturers would cause me to go with one over the other based on what #'s they have on there site. If I had to choose I would go with J.C. because he's been around a long time and he is a damn good at what he does. I have a DINAN chip, but thats only because I got an insane deal on it:buttrock .

Dont expect neck jerking power gains. If theres a gain, it shouldnt be noticable. Expect a removed top speed gov. and higher redline, though.

i would go w/the JC chip. he makes great chips, not sure if he still makes chips. but i think turner carries his software. chips r extremely easy to install. i installed mine in the parking lot of AA when i bought a bump kit. actually they installed the chip for me but i did most of the chip install. i took the ecu out and gave it to them to open it up and remove the stock chip and put the aftermarket chip in. all u have to do is remove the ecu, which is on the passenger side of the engine bay. it is behind insullation where the positive and negative terminals r in the engine bay. remove the insullation, remove the ecu harness, and i believe the ecu slides right out. then u open it up and remove the chip and install the new chip. install is reverse.
