View Full Version : Engine/Trans Vibration

I've got a vibration that comes through the pedals and the shifter, and very lightly through the steering wheel when the revs are high enough (>4.5k rpm). The vibration through the pedals and shifter can be felt as low as 1.5k rpm.

This vibration makes the travel of the accelerator pedal feel gritty, the clutch pedal travel feels even worse (like it's rubbing against the teeth of a gear). It varies directly with engine speed. It is not driveshaft related (happens when I rev the engine with car stationary). No CEL.

I've got:
Relatively new clutch kit (~15000 miles)
Brand new motor mounts
Brand new trans mounts

If anyone can give me any input I'd really appreciate it.

tranny mounts or motor mounts could be installed incorrectly or torqued too much...

maybe the motor mounts are not seated properly?

maybe the motor mounts are not seated properly?

Could you explain that a little more?

i would loossen both tranny and motor mounts, jack the engine and trans up just alittle, set it back down, making sure all mounts are seated correctly then torq to specs. Worked for me.

Should I loosen both top and bottom nuts on the trans and motor mounts or just the tops? How would I know if they're seated correctly?

Also you said it worked for you, does that mean you had this problem as well?

I would jack the car on standlift, loosen those silentblocks and start engine for secon or two, then tighten them again... hope u get the idea :-)
